The absolute desperation of the Lupa. They all thought they would be happy after the election but they are as miserable as before.

Most of the shows I can think of at the top of my head - namely The Last Airbender - mainly tend to use CGI vehicles and similar inanimate stuff. They certainly don't use it one weird dragon dudes who are for some reason in 3D, 'cause organic critters are a bitch in 3D.
Maybe they were going for a fully-animated version of Harryhausen-style stop-motion effects, but I feel incredibly dirty associating Harryhausen with this abomination.
It's a directy-to-video DVD. I expect better from my fantasy OVAs.I mean yeah the animation is kinda of out of date even for 2008, but that's a good thing in my book. The special effects can go to hell however.

W.I.T.C.H. was part of that boom of European, mainly Italian and French cartoons/coproduction that used the anime influence in the 00s. I think the Totally Spies/Martin Mystery studio was decent, then you had stuff that didn’t look as good like Winx and Huntik.Moe Bitches wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 3:18 pmThat Dragonlance animation reminds me of stuff like W.I.T.C.H or really a late 90's/early 2000's cartoon that blends 3D and 2D.
A show you'd see on 4kids.

I actually miss now that the Cal Arts wokeshit is the dominant force, damn. I’d rather kids be watching those old shows than the preachy shit we have now.

Magical Girls never had a chance, especially not after Saban came up with the "amazing" name Glitter Force for Pretty Cure.

Is that what that was? I remember seeing it once and assuming it was like one of the shows I listed. Shit.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 11:02 amMagical Girls never had a chance, especially not after Saban came up with the "amazing" name Glitter Force for Pretty Cure.

It was. Set in the US, of course (with frequent trips to a Japan expo, naturally), and every English name or term that could be changed was changed for basically no reason.
Hasbro later did a different Cure season under the Glitter Force brand, but by that time people went back to the real deal.
Probably didn't help that even the Hasbro version condensed 49 episodes down to 30, 'cause apparently only animu for boys get a halfway authentic treatment in Current Year. Fucking sexists, man.
