That's the way CNN's reporting on it (and I suspect foreign media get their media packages from CNN). Basically, they tried to bury the story. They failed. Trump brought it up during the debate. Now they're forced to cover it.

He won't be charged. The FBI have had the laptop for over a year and sat on it. The reason the computer repair shop guy even gave a copy of the hard drive to Rudy's lawyer was because he was watching the impeachment proceedings and realised that Trump and his team didn't have that evidence. The FBI actively withheld evidence that could have exonerated Trump

This is one of the reasons why the checkmark has become such a joke. The whole process is completely intransparent, and everything points towards cronyism.
