They aren't really necessary if you aren't affected/bothered by whatever the updates supposedly fix. And it's not like 1337 hackers will care about exploits in an OS that isn't even sold anymore (afaik).

My laptop was being slow for a year or two. Turns out it was cause some of the auto updates were still not disabled. I disabled them shits and now my laptop works great! Windows 7 and old-ass firefucks version that hasn't had any issues. Unlike this garbage desktop I'm typing this on, which is windows 10, has some kind of fucking memory leak I can't fix, keeps turning auto-updates back on no matter how many times I turn them off and is generally slow and unstable as fuck.
