The companies who hire ad companies to begin with are severely reducing their ad expenses because they expect to either barely stay afloat, or outright get bankrupt in the near future. What's the point indeed.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 1:52 amThat's exactly what they are doing. You can cram as many ad breaks into a video as you want but it's unlikely they will all be used. Ad agencies are simply putting less ad up because what's the point, right?Tony Schiavone wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 1:13 amYouTube could always blame it on lower ad revenues from people doing less shopping.

Re: Youtube
Does this mean the return of Youtube Red? Or every semi-successful channel immediately switching over future vids to private and requiring Paymeton to watch?Le Redditeur wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 8:57 pm

Re: Youtube
It's still around as Youtube Premium. What will probably happen is YT fucking over content producers in order to save cash.
And I would love to see these INs hide their content fully behind a paywall, 'cause that movie never works. It'd be extra funny if true nobodies like the Ex-CA crew pulled that off.

Re: Youtube
We already know the youtube and twitch audiences are vastly differently, youtube expects everything free because they already have the mindset that they pay for it by watching ads so that's why all these IN's are jumping ship off youtube. The only way youtube will get people to pay for something is by offering "original" shows much like netflix.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 7:27 amAnd I would love to see these INs hide their content fully behind a paywall, 'cause that movie never works. If we all remember Mark tried to paywall his things and quietly came back to youtube reviewing comic books like some discount linkara.

That video list is just pathetic.

Wow that's bad. He's shitting out one video a day and the algorithm is absolutely not having any of that shit. They are all super short as well, something that just plain doesn't work on YT anymore.

Shit metrics too, I bet. Saw a bunch of dislikes. Not only are the videos so much shorter, but people probably watch for a lower percentage of the video anyway because the videos are shit. His channel engagement is probably near zero.
He might still show up in results because he has a really old channel, but search results for what, though? Individual comic book issues? Holy shit, who the fuck cares about that!? Aside from certain famous comic book issues or particular comic runs like MAX, the interest in individual comix can be measured in microfucks. As in, percentages of fucks given on the micro scale.
Only thing I'll give him is that Sergio is sort of like Stan Sakai and has his own particular fanbase. You could build an entire youtube channel about stan sakai or sergio aragones. It just wouldn't be THIS youtube channel.

He gets more views for a video review of a fucking fountain pen.

Re: Youtube
You could make an entire channel just reviewing tacticool pens and kubotans and would get more views.
In any case, short videos under ten minutes don't work anymore. The algorithm doesn't like them because it can't run ads, people don't like them because YT is the TV substitute.
And single issue reviews don't really make sense. If anything you have to talk about the entire series.

Yeah but then you have to read an entire comic series (hard work dood!) and then you can't nickel and dime viewers out of every ad play possible by piecing out the content like DSP.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 1:35 pmAnd single issue reviews don't really make sense. A whole series review video could conceivably be long enough to unfuck you out of the algorithm but nah fuck that gimmie short term profits now!
