At this point, massive outbreaks and a huge death toll are inevitable even in 1st world countries. The only treatment is supplemental oxygen and antibiotics to give your immune system time to win. Without these, you're fucked.
Of course our higher standards of hygiene and sanitation will slow it down. Of course we have better, smarter doctors who will slow it down. Of course cities are going to be hit harder than rural areas. All of this is true but do not delude yourself into this all going to blow over. It is coming.
Are you ready to stay inside with no outside contact for two to four weeks? If not, fix that.
Are you equipped to provide basic medical care to yourself or family members in the event of hospitals being full? If not, fix that.
Do you have friends or family over 60? If you do, it might be a good time to visit or at least call.
This is not panic. This is not "metokur doomer meymeys" this is getting ready for an outcome that is more likely than not.
