Yeah but it hindsight the Wuhan government covering shit up, not letting foreign countries help them and China's authoritarian leadership leading to people hiding info for fear of being metaphorically force choked by Vader meant they were more likely to spread a virus, along with everything being made there. This shit could have been dealt with early but now it's going to cause major fucking problems globally, the fact that China is still lying about numbers and is giving fuck all information about it is disgusting. Them getting the WHO to shill for them and not share info with Taiwan shows they are more concerned with holding power and saving face than helping people.

Trump becoming president has made more people aware of China's government being a piece of shit and along with Trump staying out of foreign wars is the best thing he has done so far. If anything his sanctions helped cushion the blow of this since some companies would have moved manufacturing elsewhere earlier.

In Milan the stores have run out of food after the city shut down. This is more of a direct problem for people than the virus itself, and if you are caught in the rush to get food then all those people in a confined space one person who has the virus could infect you and many others. The virus being symptom-less for so long makes this way worse.

I'm pretty sure I always have at least 2 weeks of food stockpiled. It's pretty easy to just buy a bunch of cans when they're on sale and shove them in your basement, corner of house, hole in the ground etc. As long as they aren't literally 5 years old with broken seals, you should be fine.

Stockpiling water is a little harder imo. You can never stockpile enough for a true outage (imo) and if you store it long-term, you might have to worry about plastic leakage, depending how you store it. Most people don't store water in massive glass or metal drums. Vermin love getting into stored water supplies and, unlike with cans, it's hard to keep them out. A rat can easy gnaw straight through a thick plastic container. The heavier/more cumbersome the material used, the harder the water is to shift as well.

Easiest way would be to have your own well system, but only countryfags are able to do so.

If you live in the city or near a place where rodents can conceivably survive (aka anywhere that isn't a nuclear wasteland) then they can still fuck your shit up. Remember, they don't have to be nesting in your house in order to find a way in and fuck up your supplies. And they can reproduce faster than you can kill them with traps or poisons. Even the poisons that they take back to their nests can take long enough to work that they'll have completely ruined your stored provisions before they die. And if your neighbors don't manage pests as effectively as you do, another nest can spring up and move in after the first is gone.

So you should always consider how to protect your supplies from pests during the storage process, rather than later.
