The last Trek show I've (partially) watched was Enterprise, so nope.

Has anyone other than Rushy actually watched Star Trek: Retard?
Of course not. You're better off watching RLM's review of it. Guess what they say in the review? Surprise, surprise, Picard is a continuation of Discovery's awful style; lots of dumb action and melodrama, technology and continuity from previous shows are ignored (the most laughable example being that when the villains try to kidnap the chosen-one girl they grab her and place a fucking bag on her head instead of simply stunning her with a phaser), and the federation has been turned into a hamfisted DRUMPF allegory that ruins the entire point of Star Trek. As long as Bad Robot has any involvement with Star Trek, it will continue to be a mess.

As for the idiots who are praising it (you'll find plenty of them on RottenTomatoes and IMDb), they fall into two different camps; there are SJWS who don't actually like Star Trek who are praising Picard because they agree with the "FUCK DRUMPF" ideology that it's pushing, and there are manchildren who cum every time something from TNG is mentioned or appears on screen. Remember earl grey tea? Remember Data?! REMEMBER THE BORG?!?!

To be fair it's not entirely their fault. I mean, they're all hacks and anything they're involved with is almost guaranteed to be shit. But if Captain Pike Sumner Redstone hadn't split up the company and given the TV series rights to CBS, who never made and never had any interest in making Star Trek, none of this would have ever happened.

Sadly it'll probably be successful because it's basically

Star Trek Edition

Just let it fucking die. The movies haven't been good since Star Trek VI at the MOST generous. The series hasn't been good since DS9. Do these retards think that people won't watch a show unless it's new? You faggots can keep selling Star Trek for the next 400 years! Just sell the old shit! People will keep watching OG Trek long after ST: DRUMPF has been forgotten.

First Contact would be the most generous

Man listen right, Star Trek is an immensely lucrative property. Same as Star Wars and all that other shit. The suits would be fools not to keep milking it. They can't keep selling old shit forever, the idea that people won't watch old shit because it's old is not completely unfounded in reality.
The problem, and in the case of Star Trek it's a two-fold problem really, is that the suits never ever seem to think that quality should be a factor when milking a franchise. In other words, they often think 'we should milk this property for all its worth' but never follow this up with 'we should make something people will actually want to watch'.

I think they'd like to make a show people want to watch. I just believe they don't have the talent to do so.

Well, yes. But not quite in the way I mean. The suits have a very art-by-committee, art-by-statistics way of producing things. It's led to shit like this where the suits have gone 'Captain Picard merchandise sells like hot cakes, do a Captain Picard show! Put Data in there! Put the Borg in there! Put the Rikers in there! Fuck it! They'll watch it anyway'.

You can tell they tried to do something similar with Star Trek Discovery but the Viacom split means they can't really milk full TOS nostalgia and what they ended up with really pissed off a lot of Star Trek fans.

The fundamental problem with Nu-Trek is no one involved understands Star Trek. As far as I can tell, Kurtzman, J.J., and their cronies took a look at the old shows and movies and said "boring! Modern audiences don't want an optimistic, slow-moving story that explores themes and scientific ideas. They want explosions and a simple, gritty, melodramatic good vs. evil narrative." They would rather turn Star Trek into generic sci-fi action schlock than make proper Star Trek. What is mind-boggling is they keep doing this again and again even though it has failed to attract new fans to the franchise and has totally alienated old fans of the franchise.

The one good thing about CBS All Access is it will speed-up the demise of Nu-Trek. CBS are wasting tens of millions on TV shows that aren't being watched by anyone since no one is subscribed to their shitty streaming service. They're so desperate to boost their ratings, they've uploaded the pilot episode of Picard to YouTube:

What's funny is this been up for three days now and it has only a little over 2 million views. By contrast, the premiere episode of Cobra Kai was able to get over 5 million views within 24 hours. By the way, this is one of the top comments on Picard: "I cried when I saw Picard. Like seeing an old friend you missed." This shit is beyond satire.

JJ did admit he was too much of a brainlet to understand Star Trek, but a lot of it has to do with the Viacom split. Even if someone competent wanted to do something with Star Trek, they couldn't. This is the '25% different' concept Rushy has difficulty understanding

TL;DW
>Viacom used to be one company, encompassing CBS Corporation and Paramount Pictures.
>The guy who owns the parent company of both, National Amusements, split them into two companies.
>Paramount, who were actually technically responsible for making all of Star Trek from TOS to Enterprise, got to keep the Star Trek movie rights.
>CBS Corporation, who never made Star Trek and never had any interest in making Star Trek, got to keep the TV show rights.
>Paramount wanted to but couldn't make new movies, because they're built on the TV show rights.
>CBS let Paramount licence Star Trek from them but kept the merchandising rights, in effect creating a new Star Trek licence
>In order to merchandise their new licence, Paramount had to make everything legally distinguishable from the original Star Trek licence, hence the '25% different' figure

Sadly, the first JJ Trek movie made the most money out of all Trek films.
I saw this on Box Office Mojo, but going to the site now, it seems it was bought by IMDB and they now want money for me to look this up.
