I will defend the NES but it was highly overrated since I like the master system a bit more, but this sort of mentality will hopefully cause the prices of these games to nosedive again. Hell Pat has already said he's selling a lot of his games because prices are starting to fall, showing he's as two faced as they come.

Fucking Dreamcast. Might even go as far as to say anything Sega. Anything Xbox. The Nintendo president Yamauchi said of the Xbox, basically, that you can't just buy your way into the industry. Then the Xbox was mega successful in Burgerland and everyone laughed at him. Well, twenty years later it turns out that he was right.

Megadrive

Big time. The specs aren't significantly better than the SNES'. Mega Drive has a better processor, that's it. The controllers are arse. The library isn't that great, which I'm pretty sure you've said yourself.

Mega Drive owes its success and continued popularity to clever marketing. Everyone still remembers Blast Processing. Everyone still remembers 'Genesis does what Nintendon't' and all that shit. Take away the aggressive marketing campaign and all you've got left is it's the Sonic machine. And Sonic is shit.

I still wouldn't count the Megadrive as overrated. It was more of just "the other option". I don't know of anyone after Blob's personal Vietnam who'd rate the Megadrive as much better than the SNES.
I'm aware those people possibly exist. Don't link any because I don't want to see that sorry kinda shit. My point is that it was only called "much better" by kids back then that had no options and the SNES kids were no better. Whatever their parents got them for Christmas was the best console ever. I don't count those for the sake of hype.
