Re: Pat the NES Cunt

Post by BobbyBoucher » Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:14 pm

I'm late because they were pretty boring for the most part until recently and Pat's freakout escapades (Diablo Immortal/ProJared) are always more draining. And I had to travel and do some things.

I'm still 4 episodes behind, so will be making another update eventually. He's also restarted the Not So Common Podcast. Joy.

This entire thing is 25,000 characters over the limit, so some of the summaries are split into a second post.

A very late update in the escapades of Pat "Confirmed Coal Burner" Contri. (More on that.)

mega summary:
  • The big news: It's confirmed that Pat's ex girlfriend is black.
    • It turns out that Reddit post/podcast was correct all along. It must be that storm chick.
    • Pat did a Switch livestream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/506607925
      • Check 5:06 and he says that "Kiere" is his ex.
      • His ex has since moved to Hawaii.
        • Pat visited her there.
        • Pat also doesn't seem to know that temperate rainsforests exist and the US has two in the Pacific Northwest and Appalachia.
          • So much for being an environmentalist.
      • She also wanted him to be taller.
  • Pat says founder/owner of Jimmy John's is a scumbag.
    • (It's probably because he is/was a big game hunter in Africa. Pat loves the zoo.)
      • Even though hunting big game is legal in Africa. Game wardens would be killing some of these animals anyway.
  • The Coleco Chameleon saga was apparently the highest viewed time for the podcast.
    • He apparently uses being right about this as being some expert.
      • (The reality is Mike Kennedy was too dumb to just put an ARM board in a shell.)
        • Or the guy he hired was straight-up scamming him.
        • Mike also paid Pat less then other writers on his Retro Magazine. Tried to order Pat what to write about.
      • (Reminder: Pat promoted the IndieGo scam console.)
  • french court steam game resale ruling
    • Pat didn't know none of the Red Dead games are on Steam/PC.
      • "They take a year to get on there," he says stupidly.
        • (Now they are, but he didn't know that at the time. It hadn't been announced.)
    • Pat thinks this is pro-consumer, but Steam is merely acting on behalf of game publishers/developers.
      • This could easily hurt Steam sales, just the way the refund policy implementation did.
      • Or devs/publishes will add more dlc or paid-for multiplayer or micro-transactions.
    • Pat admits to owning 4 Steam games.
      • He also didn't seem aware Steam tracks multiple versions of the same game. (SteamDB lists variations.)
    • Pat also didn't know that it was possible to share some games with family/friends.
  • Pat continuously gets into shit about the Amico and Tommy Tallarico
  • He also repeatedly mentions ProJared.
    • Pat apparently kicked his ass at Windjammers and Jared was upset.
  • In middle school, Ian got his ass kicked at Street Fighter so bad he stopped playing fighting games at the arcade for 5 years.
    • (This is so god-damned funny to me.)
  • Pat's uncle John made fun of him when he was young.
    • Pat hasn't gotten over it, apparently.
  • Ian has another podcast about food: Extra Napkins.
    • He's also on another one called Yokoikids.
      • I might listen to these, but Ian is boring even when Pat's around. There's probably no material to report.
    • He's also making some review videos somewhere since he got a microphone.
  • Pat's never played Link's Awakening.
    • In fact, he didn't own a Game Boy growing up. He played Tiger LCD games.
    • Reminder, this man wants to write a Game Boy guidebook.
      • He hasn't even played one of the best games on the system!
  • "sony is getting too big for their britches," says Pat during the Spider-man Returns to MCU topic.
    • He also thinks no one knows who Madame Web is. She was in the 90s cartoon and in Ultimate Spider-man.
  • Pat recommended Ian pirate a WWE stream.
  • both complained about the monetiziation of Mario Kart Mobile.
    • Pat says he liked Super Mario Run, but it failed to make money.
    • Pat previously complained that he doesn't understand the hate for mobile games.
  • On the COD exclusivity deal: "it creates bad blood," says Pat.
    • (He had no problem with Epic Game Store exclusivity.)
  • AtGames Walgreens lawsuit
    • Pat tells how Genesis minis were returned to At-Games for a refund when they didn't sell.
      • (Hey, I was right. Retailers didn't eat the loss for the PlayStation classic, Sony did. Pat's wrong again.)
    • 66,000 unsold.
      • (Retro's dead and so is Pat's career.)
  • Pat complains that WWE is no longer making content for the fans. (Entitlement.)
  • french-Cucknadian lawsuit against fortnite developer epic
    • pat is apparently an expert on french-Cucknadian law and says it will be dismissed.
    • Pat and Ian blame the parents for not monitoring their child.
      • (But the game is free and runs on everything. There's practically nowhere someone can go and not be able to play it.)
        • Just requiring a credit card to create an account might limit access.
    • pat compares this to casinos, saying they are legal
      • (The gambling industry is heavily regulated, Pat.)
  • In reaction to The Wall review, Pat says Doge Walker's style of "Internet Vaudville" reviews are on the way out.
    • Says Norm's documentary style is on the upswing.
  • Pat's parents visited him.
    • Apparently, Pat's mother's "politics are a lot different than Ian's."
      • (I take it to mean she isn't a drug abusing underachiever.)
    • They got him sick.
      • His mother said it was all in his head.
    • Pat's dad didn't ask to look at the guidebook or open it up.
    • Pat offered to take them to breakfast on their last day there.
      • They just ditched him and went to Denny's. Claimed they thought he was sleeping.
  • Pat has completed his NES, Master System, and TG-16 collections. He's basically done collecting games.
    • He even has rare games like the NES Panesian games.
    • (I think he has all the rare TG-16 and TurboCD games.)
    • (Reminder: He never was a Game Boy collector so he can't authoritively write a guidebook for it.)
  • Ian admits he doesn't collect games anymore either.
    • Now he's just looking for interesting bits of hardware.
    • He did end up with four arcade boards that his boss gave him.
  • Pat met Danielle (comics speculator now into video games) at Portland Retro Game Con.
    • She came over while Pat was signing guidebooks.
      • Laid into him. Yelling at him for his analysis of Chris Kohler article.
        • Pat said he made counterpoints to the article.
        • "bring me on your podcast" is what Pat claims she said.
        • "she's feisty" says Pat.
        • Pat told her she was arrogant for telling vendors they don't know the value of their goods.
          • Then she admitted she was a little arrogant (according to Pat who used it as justification that he said nothing wrong).
          • In the middle of yelling at Pat, she asked him if he had any games for sale.
  • ea returns to Steam
    • They seem anaware that Ubisoft games already require a separate launcher.
      • GTA 5 and other RockStar games on Steam require a separate launcher as well.
    • Ian says it makes sense to not be exclusive to a platform to maximize sales.
      • Pat agrees, but says the Epic cash benefits indie devs. They can stay in business for 3-4 years and make a couple more games.
        • (They won't sell on a platform with fewer customers.)
      • (This is quite the reversal. They though there was no downside to Epic exclusivity before, but now it can cost sales.)
  • Pat had major travel troubles getting to Syracuse.
    • The short of it is he got up at 4:00 AM on two hours of sleep.
    • His flight is cancelled, he goes back home, sleeps, goes back to airport, cancelled again.
    • Has to catch a late flight with multiple connections.
    • Spent 14 hours from waking up just to get to Syracuse. Plus had time zone changes.
    • At Charlotte airport, went into bathroom.
      • 70 year-old attendant/janitor in there.
      • Pat blows his nose (due to sickness).
      • Attendant makes "honk honk" noise after that, making fun of Pat.
  • During a WWE in Saudi Arabia segment, Pat insults Arabs by saying the younger ones are more progressive since they are fine with seeing women's shoulders.
    • (Day of the Scimitar when?)
  • Blizzcon china apology
    • Pat says we can't just use our military to initmidate countries, we need economic-cultural victories.
      • (Cultural is impossible because Hollywood cucked to China.)
      • (Economic isn't likely because we don't have an absolutely vital resource China needs.)
        • But we're dependent on China's manufacturing base.
        • Pat opposes the tariffs that are an attempt to help correct this.
    • Boomer Pat watched an SNL sketch.
      • It was about League of Legend livestream matches vs normal stuff on ESPN.
      • He admits he doesn't understand MOBAs.
      • (Boomers have since ruined the meme since I made this note.)
  • scorsese vs MCU again
    • Pat & Ian come out on Scorsese's side, saying the movies aren't that great.
      • Say these movies won't be remembered in 20 years.
      • They didn't understand people crying online/in the theater.
        • Say there was no emotional investment.
          • (Christ, I agree with them. But my conclusion is that the movies are at best mediocre.)
            • Adults, like Pat, shouldn't see each one in the theater and dedicate a podcast to them.
            • It's stuff for children.
            • Even The Mary Sue lost their minds in defense of this shit. I thought they were supposed to make fun of manchildren?
              • The legbeards think Scorsese is a racist misogynist.
  • valve bans CSGO key reselling
    • I'm pretty sure Pat's just covering this because he has a hateboner for Valve.
  • Pat was angry at IGN's top 100 game list.
    • He seemed upset that there went enough PC games. (There were 20 in the top 50, and that excluding some later ports.)
      • Pat's just upset his favorite games aren't on top, that old PC games aren't on it.
        • Reminder, he went from NES, played SNES a little, then became a PC gamer, then back to NES.
    • Ian admitted he hates the SNES.
  • There's a bunch of sperging about Atari VCS. A bunch of these retro channels have done the same thing.
    • The reporting on the Atari VCS is as much a shitshow as the console!
    • (This console is going to fail, but the retrofag sperging by various YouTubers is annoying.)
      • Complain about the delayed release or the possible embezzlement. The hardware is the least of their concerns.
      • They don't seem to understand tech development at all. Even that Register reporter doesn't understand. (See: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/10/0 ... ect_quits/)
        • This is generic hardware development. You basically just give the manufacturer the board specs and components and they build-to-order.
          • Any "engineering" is the most basic double-checking. Make sure you have the mount points for screws, the right power adapter, etc.
            • Fitting the shell to it is the hardest part. You might need to add vents and a fan.
            • This is about the same as proofing Pat's book for printing. Except they didn't need to write the book, just design the cover.
              • Or it's like housing plans. There are basically designs you can add or subtract (add a garage, make sure plumping hookups are there). The builder is responsible for making it work.
            • If anything disturbs these guys, it should be that ThinkSurface, who worked on Ouya and RROD Xbox 360, is also working on the VCS.
          • There were some idiots (not Pat & Ian, other retrofags) complaining that the VCS was scam because there were no RAM slots.
            • This guy called The Atari Creep (more pathetic than Pat) claimed it was a fake board that someone just whipped up. (The reality is someone sprayed the Atari logo on an off-the-shelf board. That's the scam.)
            • https://medium.com/@atarivcs/the-latest ... 8ed3365231
              • Looking at the pics reveals the RAM slots are on the back, just like some other embedded boards.
        • The GPU is whatever Radeon AMD put in the APU. (In a previous article he was confused what model it would be.)
          • Atari is not responsible for drivers for it. AMD is.
          • They don't need agreements with Unreal or Unity either.
          • And I'm not sure why the Register guy thought it would support AR/VR.
        • The Register reporter also writes how Atari hasn't paid developers to port their games.
          • Why should Atari when this is generic hardware that runs Steam?
            • Can it run on a low-end Linux machine? Done.
            • You only need to make an effort to port to hardware that's drastically different.
              • Even then, some engines/IDEs make it relatively easy to do.
          • He also asked why there's no customized linux distro.
            • Who's going to maintain it long term?
          • He knocks it for not being a "dedicated console".
            • It's a good thing it isn't, because it's best use is as a media machine.
      • Oh, and Pat thinks user replaceable RAM makes it a PC and not a console.
        • Well, hard drives in consoles are now replaceable, so does that cross the line as well?
    • Pat also brings up the Coleco Chamelon a couple times. He thinks because he was right about that, he's right about this.
      • Nothing is on that level, since Mike Kennedy was stupid/naive enough to trust someone who didn't put a Raspberry Pi in a case.
        • ARM consoles apparently get the Pat seal of approval.
Pat will probably crossover with the AVGN soon, since he was on a Predator Rental Review and implied it in the Monster In My Pocket NES Punk episode.

And because I have no other place to mention it, the Game Chasers rented an Arri digital camera for their crappy movie. For the rental price of that thing, they could probably buy a bunch of prosumer equipment.

cupodcast 176 (pat gets into fights with Tommy Tallarico):
SpoilerShow
  • SNES book ships later in October.
  • amico intellivision again
    • Pat getting into fights with Tommy Talarico and Atari Age.
    • "Tommy wants to debate like Ben Shapiro," says Pat.
    • (If Pat doesn't want drama, he shouldn't respond it it.)
      • He picks fights with the forum users as well.
      • Someone insults his weight. Implies pat is a lightweight.
        • Completely uncalled for. Pat is clearly an overweight guido with a puffy face.
      • He doesn't need to be this combative.
        • Just say the market is saturated, especially with media boxes from Apple and Amazon.
          • Even if it weren't, most business ventures fail. Most games fail.
      • Reminder: Pat and Ian endorsed the IndieGo scam console.
    • "Don't Tommy this topic," says Pat.
  • aladdin/lion king remasters
    • [It's boring.]
  • Russian Geek dumps Space School ROM
  • evercade
    • Pat is somewhat supported of this
      • (It's a handheld that takes cartridges holding collections of games.)
        • Why carts instead of SD cards? It has a USB port. Can ROMs be loaded via that?
          • I'm guessing the "carts" are just SD cards fitted into molded plastic since designing a pin/contact circuit/board would be expensive. This is all off the shelf parts.
          • You can probably just crack open the cartridge and put in your own SD card.
        • It can save state, so why not load external ROMs?
      • It costs $80.
      • It touts an "ever expanding library".
    • (There are cheap retro portables out there for $40-50. Just buy one of those. Some can even load ROMs from an SD card.)
  • stealth dock for Switch kickstarter thing

    • [Really gripping.]
    • The both really like Wendy's.
    • Both say Pizza Hut sucked.
    • Pat says Little Caesar's was good in the 90s.
      • Ian hates it.
    • Both like Popeye's Chicken.
    • Pat says there are no Sonic drive-ins in the NJ/NY tri-state area.
    • Pat says founder/owner of Jimmy John's is a scumbag.
      • (I tried to find out what pissed off Pat about him.)
        • One is that him/his company put down unionization efforts and/or had non-compete clauses.
        • The second possibility is that he shot an elephant. Pat loves animals, apparently, so took this personally. (I'd go with this one, since Pat loves animals more than workers.)
          • https://www.peta.org/blog/boycott-jimmy ... eo-hunter/
          • Even though hunting elephants is usually regulated in African countries and they do cull herds occasionally to keep their numbers in check.
          • He also shot a rhino and leopard. Probably a bunch of other animals as well.
            • Those were probably all legal kills as well, considering he has $1.7 billion.
    • Pat thinks ice cream shouldn't count as fast food.
      • [referring to baskin robins]
    • Both shit on Jack in the Box. Ian says it's condiered the lowest/worst.
    • Pat says Panera Bread is an overpriced sandwich shop for hipsters.
      • [He's not wrong.]
    • [Roy Rogers restauant.]
      • They wonder if any still exist.
    • Pat also mentions he's still upset his grandmother didn't buy him GI Joe dolls at the flea market.
    • (Surprised Pat didn't just recommend diners since, like pizzerias, the local joints can potentially be much better.)
  • Pat then rounds out the podcast saying he's prepared for arguments/threats over disagreeing with Tommy Tallarico.

    • "no rain forest in continental US" says Pat.
      • [Pat's wrong, thanks to more environmental bullshit.]

          • It includes part of the West Coast and part of Appalachia.
          • Odd that a lover of nature like Pat doesn't know this.

  • new switch games and snes games on Nintendo Online service.

    • Pat says Apple doesn't abandon products the way Google has.
      • (Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ha.)
        • There are a ton of people who got fucked when Apple changes things up. (PowerPC to x86, dropping "obsolete" in favor of USB-C, etc.)
          • Not to mention proprietary bullshit they pull (MacBooks won't work with generic USB-C to HDMI, you have to buy an Apple-approved one).
    • Pat says he's having trouble with his "literary phrases" because he couldn't quite remember how to use "dyed-in-the-wool".

      • Dropping support for Saturn ruined them, he says.
      • Without 32X and Saturn, they could have made it to the Dreamcast, says Pat.
        • [I don't think so. Drop the CD and 32X. Saturn would have had more hype. Maybe team up with Sony for Sega PlayStation.]

    • (There aren't many successful paths open to GameStop.)
      • GameStop's other problem is that MMO/Multiplayer games have gained popularity.
        • Some people only play these games. Or just spend an inordinate amount of time in multiplayer matches.
        • That means fewer single player games to make money trading on.
  • q&a most tantalizing video game power ups

  • q&a does limited run games encourage scalping

      • (They were right once because Mike Kennedy was too dumb just to shove a Raspberry Pi into a case.)
        • Whoever Mike hired to build/design the damn thing thought it was better to shove in an SNES board rather than an ARM board.
          • If not for that, the Chameleon would probably have been released.
        • There other critics who doubted the Chameleon as well.
    • Pat had to come after Mike Kennedy for money he was owed for the Retro Magazine.

  • Apple Arcade
    • Ian owns an iPhone (of course).
      • (Of course he owns one. He doesn't even have a job that requires a high-end phone, yet he has one.)
    • Pat played 3 games out of 6 he downloaded.
      • Pat liked Red Reign.
        • (Also liked the look of some space sim game.)
    • Pat says he doesn't understand why people complain about mobile games since they are meant for casual/short use.
      • (It's because the entire games industry chases fads.)
  • french court steam game resale ruling
    • Pat didn't know none of the Red Dead games are on Steam/PC.
      • "They take a year to get on there," he says stupidly.
      • (Rockstar released its own launcher last month.)
        • It's obvious they are going to bypass Steam and sell direct. So Pat's wrong again.
    • Pat mentions the Australian court ruling that forced Steam returns.
      • "But Steam's the best" Pat mocks in a waverly voice.
    • "steam gets kicked in the junk"
    • (Pat thinks this is pro-consumer, but Steam is merely acting on behalf of game publishers/developers.)
      • The resale ruling killed off or at least changed how sales work. (Really good sales started disappearing.)
      • Allowing resales will reduce dev/publisher revenue, which means smaller or no discounts during sales. (The plus side is that a traded key is 100% the same, no wear and tear like a used disc.)
        • They'll come up with other schemes such as charging for multiplayer. Or even more DLC. (DLC won't transfer, I guess?)
        • Not to mention, Ubisoft uses it's own launcher. You buy the game on Steam, but it launches via Uplay.
          • They might get off Steam entirely to keep that 30%.
      • This might also kill off regional pricing.
        • Someone repeatedly buys Steam keys for in Russia, then sells to the US or somewhere else.
        • (Quality work in understand complex topics as always, Pat.)
        • Or stricter region locking. EU will be one region and one price.
      • What if they just reclassify all games as long-term rentals?
        • Google Stadia might just take off.
        • Or the Apple Arcade model might become dominant.
          • Games only available on subscription services.
      • Does this apply to digital movies as well? Can those be resold?
      • Game giveaways will probably now die off since they can be resold for money.
    • Pat says Steam would probably just pay 3,000 euros per day for six months rather than comply.
      • (They only correct thing he's said during this segment.)
    • Pat admits to owning 4 Steam games.
      • He also didn't seem aware Steam tracks multiple versions of the same game. (SteamDB lists them typically.)

  • joyscube thing

    • 1:02:00 in, Pat admits he never played the original because he never owned the original GameBoy.
      • He played Tiger LCD games. (The mobile games of their day.)
      • It's amazing he never considered playing it or the DX version in an emulator in the past 25 years.
        • He was never curious enough to play one of the best games on the system.
          • This man is considering writing a Game Boy collector's book.
        • He also never bothered to play Star Fox 2 until its official release, either.

  • Ian flipped through the SNES guidebook, says it is visually appealing.
    • Ian says his books aren't crap like some others.
    • Pat says he pays his writers.
      • (But they do all the work. They should own the book.)
    • Pat says he's not interested right now in playing SNES since finishing the book.
      • (He only reviewed 80 games. How could he lose interest from that?)
  • spiderman returns to mcu (very cool)
    • Pat says they made his predicted deal (25% investment for 25% take).
      • Also says they would have made 25% less without the MCU connection.
        • (But they would have made 100% of the long-term income from the movie. Now they split that with Disney.)
    • Pat says no one has heard of Madame Web.
      • (She was in the 90s cartoon and Ultimate Spider-man. Someone knows her.)
    • Pat says Venom was shit.
      • (Rotten Tomatoes audience score is at 80%. A sequel could make money.)
    • "sony is getting too big for their britches," says Pat.

  • mario kart mobile game
    • both proceed to complain about monetization of game.

  • Atari VCS update
    • Pat and Ian just repeat everything other retrofags have already said.
    • Then Pat suggests the Atari CEO drive over for a friendly chat and give out free t-shirts.
      • (Pat is so vindictive, he's again reference Tommy Tallarico.)
    • (If only Pat used one-tenth of his hate for the VCS to investigate the IndieGo scam console.)
      • But that's Pat Approved.
  • COD exclusivity
    • Pat and Ian finally critical about questionable exclusivity deals.
    • "it creates bad blood," says Pat.
      • (No mention of Epic Games Store exclusives?)
  • AtGames vs Bandai Namco lawsuit
    • "They're [Bandai-Namco] just going to strong arm them for the rights, that's what I'd do," says Pat.
    • Summary: AtGames has the Royalty rights to Pac-Man, but not the right to create games based on it.

    • (The entire MCU is a guilty pleasure.)
  • q&a will SNES/NES will always be collectible.
    • Ian is smart enough to say no.
    • (I'd argue SNES could have an extended life thanks to GBA and NDS. 2D graphics and interfaces were very similar.)
    • Pat says interest in old games/consoles declines.
      • (Just like his career.)
  • Podcasts used to be 3 hours long.
    • (Less retro news to talk about. Pat doesn't know anything else, really.)

    • He has some food podcast.
  • new wrestling company show
    • [Riho vs Nyla Rose?]
      • Nyla Rose is apparently a tranny. No wonder Riho lost.
    • At end, Pat complains that WWE is no longer making content for the fans.

    • Can't get funding from major studio, says Pat.
    • (Sorcsese's films actually have some impact on human culture.)

    • (There are a bunch of television shows more cinematic than the MCU.)
    • pat hasn't seen taxi driver.

  • ps5 news!!!

    • Ian sees stuff like HD Rumble as a gimmick.
      • (I've heard some people swear by it.)
  • Blizzard/NBA censorship over China remarks.
    • Pat and Ian are surprised this happened so quickly.
    • Pat notes this was in a South Park episode last week. (Who the fuck still watches South Park? Boomers.)
    • "giving up too mouch of our principles for monetary value"
      • "we allow some freedom of speech here"
    • (This shit heads disparaged the tariffs against China.)
      • The only way to fight them is to try to reduce their economic might. That means changing our trading habits in some way.
    • They say "fuck blizzard. Oh dear, we're just shills."
    • "We're in dark territory," says Pat. "NBA was at the forefront of progressivism."
    • "we hold sacred that you should be able to have political thoughts," says Pat.
      • "No one's livelihood is being ripped away from saying something like that"
      • (But, Pat, free speech doesn't protect you from consequences.(TM))
    • (if the nba kowtows to China, what does pat think is going to happen when they break climate agreements?)
    • [Pat & Ian immediately do a promo for a food service right after this. It's jarring.]
  • VCS architect Robb Wyatt left.
    • Ian says VCS PCB is mostly blank.
      • (What is he thinking? It should be a fairly simple board with only the basics.)
    • "The architect partially designed it," says Ian.
      • (This should be all off the shelf. There are websites for designing PCB boards. The "engineering" is minimal.)
    • Ian notes that this retro consoles always go for color variants.
    • On sandbox mode:
      • Pat says sandboxes have nothing in them and is fine for a real one, but terrible for a console. "You have to create your own fun, your own environment."
        • (These guys don't know what sandbox mode is. It's just a way to allow messing around without damaging the main system or anything important.)
          • You mess around in the sandbox, then wipe it clean.
          • Using a virtual machine as a sandbox is useful. It's great for installing pirated software which may have trojans.
    • The proceed to sperg about the focus on the VCS manufacturing process.
      • Pat says, "RAM can be upgraded? This is a computer now, not a video game console."
    • Ian says PowerA controllers suck. (Probably right.)
    • Register article: Architect quits after not being paid for 6 months
      • (His company probably were just contractors, not employees.)
        • They'd be paid whenever the work was actually done.
        • They were apparently debugging the PCB.
          • That may just mean testing.
      • "Atari France only has 3 employees."
        • (So confirmed everyone else is a contractor.)
        • CEO got $1.1 million a year.
          • "You are all funding a fraudster," says Ian.
            • (Who the fuck is he talking to?)

        • (Just install Ubuntu.)
      • "House of Crowd-funding," says Pat.
      • Pat criticizes the sandbox, mostly likely doesn't even know what one is since he describes it as "making your own fun, like a children's sandbox".
      • From article: "failed to reach agreement with Unity and Unreal"
        • (Why is this important? It's generic hardware!)
        • Other shit:
          • "won't work with FireOS"
          • "no native apps, will have to access Hulu, Netflix, Amazon through browser"
            • "Holy fucking shit" says Pat. "This is like the fucking Wii."
        • Walmart wants a 4 GB of RAM version.
        • (The Register article also talks about AR/VR support not being present.)
          • What the fuck is this guy smoking?
    • Ian not sure if VCS will come out.
      • Thinks Intellivision Amico will.
    • Pat thinks Atari/Intellivision are banking on selling to wholesalers.
      • (But wholesalers have contracts to return unsold units as seen with AtGames. So they won't be making money without sales.)
    • "Once a project goes bad like this, like with the Coleco Chameleon, more people will open up," says Pat.
      • Thinks SurfaceInk will be the next to complain.
        • (SurfaceInk worked on the Ouya. Also the 2005 RROD-prone Xbox 360.)
  • lawsuit against fortnite developer epic
    • pat and ian dismiss this

      • (But they made a mistake. Fortnite is free on everything.)
        • It's free on mobile. It's free on console.

    • Pat says it will not make back its money.
    • Pat says we're moving away from Nostalgia Critic style toward Norm's documentary style.
      • "Internet vaudeville" is what he calls Doge's style
    • (Note for later reference: Pat has no problem shit-talking other creators.)
      • Well, we already knew that from ProJared.
  • [Pat's parents are visitng him in 5 hours.]
    • I think at the start of this ep they mentioned her politics were a lot different than Ian's.

      • [Sensitive Pat and Ian lost their shit when red-shirt guy made a joke at Blizzcon.]
    • The irony here is that mobile games are there to appeal to the Asian/Chinese market.
      • So Pat and Ian's support for them supports China.
  • enchanted portals game kickstarter
    • [Looks like Flash animation with some sort of filter.]
      • (Pat and Ian don't bring this up. I guess they haven't seen much animation to notice the difference.)
        • It's apparently only a two person team, so of course they're going to take shortcuts.
          • Compare this to Cuphead where the animation was hand-drawn. That's why it took forever to make.
    • Pat says this has worked out for the copycat creators since the backlash gave them a lot of attention.
    • Ian said one group of people are saying to harass the devs.
      • "Those are not real people. That's the incel crowd," says Pat.
    • Pat says there no copyright violation, which is true.
      • (There is a possibility for trademark confusion, though.)
    • "Fakey looky hand-drawn" Pat says right at end.

    • Pat says his collecting goals were NES, Master System, and TG-16.
      • He takes time to remind people the Turbo was 16-bit color only.
        • (Didn't really matter. Even most games on SNES didn't need 16-bit integers.)
    • Pat finally got the last Turbo CD he needed that was released in North America:

I stopped playing SF2 because a nig would either jump in with Guile and spam the screen with a thousand sonic booms, or one would nag me incessantly to let him take over and show me something.

  • 66,000 unsold.
    • (Retro's dead and so is Pat's career.)
AtGames made the older, unpopular and inferior 'genesis minis', not the more recent and highly popular one which sega dumped them to partner with another company (M2) on. so it makes sense that the older, shitty and unpopular genesis minis that hadn't already sold are now definitely never going to sell with the much better one out there.

I was playing my NES Classic the other night ago and it made me realize just how bad most of these games have aged. The only one that has really held up is Super Mario Bros 3. Most of the rest of the catalog has been surpassed or at the least feels extremely archaic. I get the same feeling from a lot of these games now that I used to from Atari. I don't get how Pat considers himself a gayyyymur when all he likes is the NES shit.

SNES and Genesis on the other hand hold up pretty well. Most of those games are still playable and the graphics still look good for that style.
