Re: Movie Thread
GoodFellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and The King of Comedy are all essential Scorsese films which everyone should watch, between these and the rest of his filmography is a huge gap in quality, but Casino, The Wolf of Wall Street and Cape Fear are all excellent movies too. The Gangs of New York is garbage. I hated Scorsese's collaboration with Leonardo until The Departed, which had Leo's first decent role IMO. In the Wall Street movie Leo was amazing, he fitted perfectly in the role of rich asshole sociopath, which he probably in real life actually is. And Nigguh should really watch Infernal Affairs, if you liked TD, you'll love IA, that is if you don't have some neurotic hate towards Asian cinema. And no, I'm not hipster faggoting here in a sense of "Asian movies are ALWAYS BETTER THAN THEIR WESTERN REMAKES", IA is just truly superior to TD in every aspect.

Re: Movie Thread
Yeah Raging Bull is pretty great.
(I have not seen his earlier works like Boxcar Bertha or whatever it was called, but I have watched the aforementioned.)
Made me forget I was watching a movie from the 80's and stays true to its time period.

I prefer Casino over Goodfellas by a small margin. The production quality is just a bit higher and I personally find the subject matter more interesting. I did see The Irishman and it's definitely in the same vein as those films. Time well tell how well I regard it as it's still brand new. I will say there was something weird about DeNiro's eyes from the digital aging that distracted me the entire time.

I just got the time to watch the Irishman, and boy it is good. It pretty much is a culmination of his previous stuff, but in a good way. Everything's there, the writing, acting, cinematography, everything. But yeah I haven't really paid attention to the CGI aspect until you brought it up. My favorite parts were the fish in the car, what the fuck's candy?, the kinda comedic way people casually get killed, the ending was very touching, and basically any part with Pacino, Pesci, and DeNiro. Boy was it a trip.
Comparing this to Endgame, this is a helluva lot better for many reasons. In that movie you can feel the three hours and not in a good way, but Irishman keep on giving me more and wanting me to have more. Plus Endgame's acting was cheesy at best. I can go on about this.

Casino is one of my favourite movies of all time. But "Now go home and get your fucking shine box!" alone is so great that Goodfellas may be just a bit better.
Sounds like I'll have to watch The Irishman this weekend.

I think Robert De Niro has brown eyes and his character in The Irishman has bright blue eyes and they used CGI to pull it off. That resulted in some uncanny valley effects that always stood out to me when I watched it.

And they did that because.... they could?

Goodfellas is the most overrated movie in the history of cinema. Not even debatable.
