Current 4chan IS Reddit. There is no difference in terms of the userbase. Claiming it isn't is like pretending that ResetEra isn't NeoGAF 2.0. 4chan has been dead for many years now.

Thing is that Lowtax himself is responsible for letting them escape the cage.

Moot, founder of 4chan, was a goon and he'd get banned from SA for posting anime. So eventually what he decided to do was create his own imageboard in the style of the Japanese 2channel where he could post his anime and what would happen is that other goons would get banned from SA for posting anime and go to 4chan to post it instead. He filled all the staff positions with his goon buddies and over time they went and made the site shit.

See, Moot never really intended for 4chan to be a free speech haven. That was always an unintended side effect. Him and his goon buddies always resented the 4chan user base for saying whatever they wanted and tarnishing him by association. Because you see, unlike Cripplewheels, Moot always had aspirations of being more than 'the 4chan guy' and actually making money off his creations. But, to the clique of SF libshit hipsters that he tries to ingratiate himself with, he'll always be 'the 4chan guy' and that's why he hates them.

Aaaanyway, jewt has tried to sell 4chan for many years but could never fetch a good price for it since it's basically advertiser poison. Meanwhile, hosting cost rose and rose. He fetched himself some twat from the SF posse he so desperately tried to be part of forever and got cucked pretty much immediately.
Naturally, he was the ultimate laughing stock and finally took his ball and left. That was the third exodus and really pumped up 8ch. That site was a whole clusterfuck in of itself but a story for another day.
