I got a degree in the medical field, when I started doing on the job stuff I just knew it wasn't for me. It's not a total waste, a lot of better jobs in burgerland want a degree to even qualify.

Re: Silicon Valley
Haven't you ever considered doing that kinda shit at least for a while to earn some money? You don't have to love your job if it pays well enough. Trust me, I know.mad bum wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 12:52 amI got a degree in the medical field, when I started doing on the job stuff I just knew it wasn't for me. I make about the same what I would be doing there. Honestly if I was going to get into any sort of career it would be being a code monkey or something. It's a meme but I know someone that does coding who's lazier than me and makes good money.

Unless you've been working in that field for 5+ years or have absolutely stellar connections you're not going to earn jack shit with coding.

Yeah seriously. It takes one good coder no time at all to do the work of 5 people. I love all the people trying to learn Python these days expecting it to be this highly lucrative side skill when it's a huge fucking job where these fuckers have been doing nothing but that their whole lives. "Oh I can learn this on the weekends or night school!" No. Fuck yourself. There is a reason for the coder shortage, it's because most people cannot do it, practice it, or treat it like the job it is.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 2:29 amUnless you've been working in that field for 5+ years or have absolutely stellar connections you're not going to earn jack shit with coding.
Best part? Coding is far from immune to automation. Just wait. These fuckers will make script kiddies obsolete in the next 20 years or something else that makes your Boomer Python certification you got at the local community college even more worthless than it already was.

They seriously expect any beginner to work for years for next to no money because they supposedly get this highly valuable experience. It's a great industry to work in if you have a really good job. There's fifty coders for every one good job, though. Outside of those it's even worse than the service industry.

Or make a porn VN and let dipshits give you thousands via paymetons while never finishing it and working only two hours a month at best.
