They didn't just recycle from other Star Trek episodes. They did a lot of recycling from other shows. Hence why they had a Nazi episode and a Western episode. Speaking of which, Spectre of the Gun is another pretty good episode.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 4:47 pmHarlan Ellison never claimed so. I don't think they'd done an episode set in the thirties, at least not when Harlan wrote it. One of his (many) complaints, however, was that Roddenberry kept pushing the production date back. It was meant to be about the thirteenth episode or so and it wound up getting made at or near end of the first season run.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 4:37 pmI'm not sure if City on the Edge of Forever was partially written to recycle sets and costumes, but that's widely considered the non-ironic best TOS episode.

That's the one where they re-enact the Gunfight at the OK Corral, right? My mum always hated that one.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 5:18 pmSpeaking of which, Spectre of the Gun is another pretty good episode.

Yeah, they reenact it due to funky alien mind games, none of it is real, and there are these weird alien physics they have to figure out how to exploit before they all get killed. I thought it was better than rehashing the human aliens are just like some time period on earth plot for the umpteenth time.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 5:24 pmThat's the one where they re-enact the Gunfight at the OK Corral, right? Personally I enjoyed it. Mum claims she always found Spock's mind meld scenes rather cringy

TOS was at least interesting and for a show of it's time well ahead of most other shit. Too bad the people didn't really pick up on it until it was in syndication.
Then again, there's a good chance that if we got more seasons it would just have been trash.

You couldn't have Kirk on the air today. ANY sexual tension--even the one between Spock and McCoy--is also gone from the airwaves.
Realized you don't see any of that stuff in any shows. Nothing erotic, only time you see kissing is before a quick (or implied) sex scene. They don't even take their time with those anymore.
I'm not asking for it by any means with the gays or trannies, but you'd think it would've shown up by now. I think it's very telling to note how they get more representation to push their degeneracy, and simultaneously transform their worlds into joyless, sexless societies.
SJWs are the new Puritans. (Or pedos frustrated their shit still isn't allowed).

They don't have to include homoerotic tension in their shows. The fanbase will make-believe it for them.
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

They're either the new sexless puritans or degenerates who are obsessed with fucking but incapable of meaningful emotional romance. Or both. Hence, "Why would you want sexy characters in your movies, comic books or vidya? Just watch porn!" I think I just described Linkara.Tony Schiavone wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 2:32 pmYou couldn't have Kirk on the air today.
