What are you playing?

Talk about the life consuming, celibacy inducing hobby that is all the rage these days.

It is only the finest tycoon game out there.

I've been playing a very strange and interesting game. Dungeons and Dragons tactics for the psp. It's very unique. An almost flawless representation of the pen and paper game, or so I've been told by D&Dfags. It's very menu-heavy but also has a lot of freedom in how you build your character and how you play. A lot isn't explained, but just fiddling about will teach you many things even if, like me, you don't have experience with dungeons and dragons.

There are a lot of party combinations. No cross-class builds, but you have flexibility within each class. The graphics are pretty simple 3D, but the game does have a full lighting engine, which it uses to calculate hidden/invisible/revealed and other things. One of the most useful spells to cast is the Light spell, since it reveals enemies. And shadows seem to be dynamic, along with the light sources, so you will generate light realistically as a character with a light source moves around.

Some classes stand out as better than others. Sorcerors are absolutely insane nukers that can spam unavoidable attacks all day long. In a game where a majority of melee attacks miss, that's OP as fuck. Wizards become more broken later on, but they suck shit in the early game from their lack of spell casts. Clerics are OP too. Undead are everywhere and their spells are very useful, plus they can pinch hit as tanks. Psychic warriors broken as fuck for many reasons. Best tank class in the game that I've found, can heal itself, can overheal and has warrior-tier stats.

Enemies are extremely interesting. Werewolves take damage reduction unless you use magic or silver. Skellingtons take massive damage reduction unless you use blunt weapons. Zombies the same, but for bladed weapons. Devils take no damage from fire, etc. Almost every enemy type has its own unique strengths that require you to modify how you play and carry extra weapons around. Even a dedicated archer will need a slashing blade for zambies and silver arrows for werewolves.
That D&D game has bad reviews all around. Meanwhile this game has only good reviews.

Jean d'Arc sucks cocks. People always recommend it as a HIDDEN GEM. It has very little strategy, tactics or freedom. The game is about as "baby's first srpg" as it gets. You have zero generic units to recruit and only a few choices for each class of unit. There is no weapon freedom whatsoever and character growths are pretty much hard-locked. The primary way to win in that game is to abuse the transformations so you can take 10 turns in a row and kill every enemy on the battlefield. The game seesaws between frustrating gank spanks and piss-easy slapfights. It even has fucking escort quests where the target you are escorting does not react at all to enemies, can't take even 1 hit at times and has no self-preservation instinct.

That's the best type of escort mission.

And anyway, isn't that rather like being an accountant and playing a simulator about doing your fucking taxes? Does Kugel play Store Manager Simulator 2019?
No but I know of a few farmer guys that have a LAN party every once in a while to play Landwirtschaftssimulator.

Yeah, it's been in EA for quite a while and I've written a lot about it already. Page 218 of this thread in March.
The short of it: It's pretty good.

He pretty much baited you tictac. Jean D'Arc's pull is that it was Final Fantasy Tactics but with a loony french blondie on the PSP before the actual FFTactics with a moron blonde boy was ported to the PSP. That's it. It's not even good by Level 5 standards but the aesthetic is nice for those who like Saint Seiya.

On a side note I really want to kill this shitty faggot pretender :

On its own it would be fine, except the nigger has quite the sorted story with DMC, DmCucks and how he views himself as a "cool gaymer"         that he now just does a hard 180 and just says what he probably always wanted to say. Fucks like him just bide their time until everyone forgets about the shit they did years ago and then they fuck everything even harder. Youtube just exposes them harder than any other platform.

The nothing burger cunts that just cause nontreversies and follow him and other braindamaged shitstains have also not stoped kvetching about Tifa's boobs which infuriates me and amuses me at the same time given that I'm the hikkineet useless botomfeeder with no girlfriend because my Otaku level is over 8.000, yet those cunts that have girlfriends and show them on camera can't fucking understand the difference between a video game, Hitomi Tanaka and how a woman of 1,70m height with measurements of 92-60-88 cm and an athletic build would probably look like. Shit, at least the japanese cry about Tifa looking like Jennifer Conelly instead of her voice actress, Ayumi Ito(therefore she isn't as "asianic" cute) and for her sport bra that is done to remove the DOA boob flopping and I can't fault them, given this has been the last thing Tifa has done in quite a while :

So I got my hand on Cuckstained - Ritual of the Alt-Right

Short answer: Way better spiritual successor than Mighty No. Nein. Though that's not a particular high bar to cross.

Long answer: It's basically a Symphony of the Night nostalgiafest, except it's actually Aria of Sorrow with boobs, aka Order of Ecclesia 2 (What Is A Man Boogaloo).
You pretty much get all the familiars from SotN im some fashion, and this shard system is pretty much the soul system from Aria, except half the attack powers can be aimed with the right stick and get their own slot and button. Therefore the normal fire-and-forget attack power button contains a lot more temporary summons instead of projectiles.
A lot of weapons and even easter eggs are straight of of SotN, and they have some "Kill x of this type of enemy" quests that have you avenge villagers that just happen to be named after Castlevania characters. I'm almost expecting some demon being called "K'nuh'Mee" or something.
Some weapons have more or less hidden special move inputs, and once mastered, you can use these techniques with every weapon of the same category.
And just like with most Metroidvania, you can roflstomp over just about anyone with the right combination of broken overkill shit. Though I tend to get hit more during boss fights, probably because the 2D games were a bit cleaner in terms of hit- and hurtboxes.

The weirdest omission is that you can't equip a second weapon to use with some secondary attack button like in SotN and I think OoE. The inventory might initially look like you can equip two weapons, but the second slot is reserved for bullets you can use with the gun weapons. This is extra weird considering the game uses just about every button on your typical gamepad - except for the "cancel" face button, which is only used in menus.
Sure, you eventually find a shard that lets you save loadouts and switch between them via a ring menu, but that's not nearly as elegant as just hitting a single button.

I see someone else got experience with...yes, Order 2 : Shards Boogaloo and it seems it suffers from MGR syndrome where the circle aka the "STEALTH" button was beyond useless and it could have been used for...a number of things. It's pretty good for an IGAvania and yes, Order could technically let you equip two weapons if the things you equiped had them, otherwise you'd probably equip a weapon shard and some magic and summons.

Basically, the whole game and the way the distribution is handled is rubbing salt all over Inafune by having IGA show the bare minimum of competency and treating others normally, in order to get a proper gig next time as well. The game also is very JoJosexual this time. JoJo references have always been an IGA thing on Vanias but this time he laid it a bit more thick, I expected Yohanes to go out and say that his name is actually Jonathan Joe-Morris(no relation to the Jonathan Morris of Portrai of Ruin) and that he's searching for a blonde man who used the stone mask Myriam can equip, in order to gain unholy vampire powers. David Hayter as Zangetsu is the thing that may have sent people on the wall with that trailer :

That probably got him some good boy points from former KONAMI fans and fans of MGS, given that Zangetsu is basically Samurai Snake in the english dub because of this.
