You'd have to compare TLJ with with HIghlander 2: The Quickening to even talk about a similar order of magnitude of being a mistake.

The trailer for Doctor Sleep is out.
They are clearly making it a direct sequel to the Kubrick film and I couldn't be happier. If they have a Nicholson cameo, it's film of the year for me. Automatically. Don't care how bad the film is, if it's Shining with Nicholson, I'll pay my month's salary to see that

The producers of Highlander are such greasy bitches. They outright blame fans of Highlander 1 for the debacle that is The Quickening. "Well, you wanted to know where they came from!" they say on the commentary, as if that excuses fucking planet Zeist or the later time travel bullshit.

Still, it's a decent little post-apocalyptic '90s movie. It's certainly better than Endgame or the Source, and young Virginia Madsen was ridiculously attractive. If they ever get the reboot off the ground they need to have a post-credits stinger referencing Zeist.

You don't need to know exactly where everything originated and how everything happened. Most times the mystique is much more interesting. Yet another reason why virtually all prequels are shitty and unnecessary.

I'm speaking on the concept of prequels in general. I know technically Highlander 2 isn't a prequel, you pedantic faggot.

The Quickening was a warning on the dangers of muh deep lore and muh overexplaining. Having Ramirez or some other older immortal shrug his shoulders and go "I dunno" is really the best "explanation" you could hope for. Not to mention that the whole "Let's kill each other until only one is left" is extra batshit specifically because nobody knows wtf is actually going on or why.

(Also I hope a potential reboot will rip off DBZ.)

The question is a fair one to ask. They are in essence immortal so it's safe to assume any Highlander was around since the beginning of whatever it was.
The problem is the answer being "lol aliens" and them feeling the need to explain it in the first place. There's no reason to try and explain it in the second movie if you don't have a good answer. A smart writer team would've just made more Highlanders appear, made it a mystery where those came from and left that question for the third movie to explain, bailing out after the second movie to fuck off to the Bahamas.

Ready Player One (2018)

I haven't read the book and wasn't even really that interested in watching this, but I guess I have to keep up with movies (or do I?). RPO is the latest demonstration how Steven Jewberg has lost the thing he once had. He used to be actually a good boi, elegant horror movies like Jaws and Duel, Indiana Jones films were pure movie magic here and there, and he even made an A-class (((propaganda))) movies like Schindler's List. What happened? What is this shit?

I mainly lost my interest in hollywood in 2008-2009 after watching Avatar and How to Train Your Dragon in a row. Avatar's plot is a known meme..

.. but I'm not talking about that so much. It's the characters that are carbon copies of another. Male and female leads are both exactly the same. A main male character is this little goofy, but goodhearted and always brave at the face of danger paragon of righteousness who meets this animal rights activist like, strong female lead character who downplays and outwits him in every way she can and generally acts tsundere and he thinks "Gee, who is this wild but exciting super gurl, I'm in luuuv", this same shit in a different package, time after time. "Surprisingly" this is exactly the case also in here. There isn't a room for any kind of personality, the characters function as 100% caricatures and you can guess what they are going to say and how they are going to react to any forthcoming situation. It's so mind numbingly uncreative that it makes me wonder why people keep paying to see this same garbage again and again. Why are critics praising this? Are they all just paid shills? Oh yes, the main protagonists are huwhite, but the rest of the gang are diverse as hell, of course. Stunning and brave. Even one of the main villains is a black.. woman. Even the villains can't escape the diversity anymore!

RPO is a very expensive looking cgi-porn which relies on constant references of pop culture of the 80's/90's and they are not even used in any clever way, they are there just for sake of being there. Did pop culture die after the 90's? Apparently there isn't anything to reference after that decade as movies have since become stale and soulless sequels, prequels, remakes, reboots and other empty nostalgia cashing abominations, like this movie. Boring caricature characters bounce from one cgi-danger to another collecting some keys so they can find some super seekret before the eevilll corporation guy finds it or something. It's all so superficial there isn't any sense of adventure nor achievement. RPO is like fucking with a rubber; you can hear the squelch and nothing feels like anything.

This is real movie magic. When Indy discovers the Ark location with the staff of Ra it really feels like an earned achievement, something he has worked his ass off for. And that amazing cinematography, something that can't never be reached with cgi. Spielberg's Judenfilms have truly came down hard.

There's also supposed to be some featherweight social commentary how speding most of your time online is bad.

After typing all this and giving it more thought, watching RPO isn't really even like fucking with a rubber, it's more like fapping while sniffing an used rubber, something fake and plastic that have hints it has once been inside a pussy. Fucking pathetic trash.

I didn't know anything about the movie prior to seeing it besides it's directed by Spielberg and I decided to give an old school kino magister a chance. Though I wasn't surprised at all it sucked, the old senile faggot has completely lost what he once had. It is like watching Paul Stanley trying to perform with KISS these days. Sad.
