Not necessarily, it was super common to rent games in the US instead of buying them. Why spend $60-$100 when you could spend $5-$10 and beat a game?

Yeah it used to be common here as well just with the additional bullshit of games for ages 18 and up being relegated to the closed off porn section of the video store. It was always a bit awkward to go there to rent Resident Evil or something, going a slalom through shelves full of weird porn.

I didn't even know there was a Master System one. That's pretty funny, actually. Did they make that for huehue land? Who the fuck still had a Master System at that time?

Apparently they were still making games for the Master System in the mid-90s for poor countries like Brazil.

I also mostly rented games for old consoles at blockbuster or other video stores, when I got my ps1 I got it pirated so i bought games for 4-5 bucks before it was easier to download games because of inet speed.

A friend of mine had a modded Xbox so he could just copy games to the HD. That was pretty nifty.
Then again, the only games I really cared about was Ninja Gaiden and Burnout so I didn't get mine modded.

A friend of mine did the same with his xbox and it was I played quite few games with that ( I didn’t have one at that moment), before that I pirated my ps2 and I just downloaded and burned games, the console still works but the controls are beyond fucked.
