You've got it all wrong, dood. Cavemen where all over Healthy At Every Size.

In fact, who is to say that being fat is not the real human standard? It's just those fatphobic, fascist Spartans who ruined the fun for everyone. Not to mention those Romans with their disgusting propaganda sculptures.

Also I'm pretty sure that until the last 1-2 centuries, it was physically impossible for a human being to be as fat as this statue and survive for more than a year.

They were, actually. You could keep the tribe healthy at every size. Either you hunted and gathered or you got thrown to the wolves while the non-fatties escaped.

Truly ahead of the times.

Viewing artifacts that predate the written word through the lens of "living my best life for me lol!!1 <3" modern-day self-obsession. Motherfuck. It's looking more and more like presentism is the disease that will finally wipe out humankind once and for all.

Also, fuck you, red squiggly line; "presentism" is a valid word.

It's up for debate. It was certainly extremely uncommon. But the venus statuette does demonstrate a knowledge of human anatomy which probably came from real-life models. The fat on the frame of the venus statuette is very realistic.

The real-life model may have been someone with a legitimate disorder causing weight gain, or it may have been someone fattened up by winter months of laying around and eating food stores. Or it could have been a well-fed, pregnant woman. Or maybe someone observed the way fat naturally lays on a woman's figure at lower levels of obesity and just exaggerated it.

However it happened, I can't possibly imagine a situation where it's even conceivable that someone spent the time and effort to carve that statuette to express a twatter female identity polidicks shitpost.

Whoever said that statuette has been nothing but trouble was right. The simple fact is NOBODY KNOWS why that statuette was made. People make informed guesses about fertility icons but we don't know. It could have been bbw pregger porn for all we know.

Even if you entertain the thought for a minute, there's a large difference between, "well fed," and, "obese."
That's the always overlooked part.
Here's three classic paintings (the women aren't wearing clothes in these so maybe don't check them out while sitting at work) with "heavier" women. While they aren't superfit hardbody models, they aren't gross, nearly immobile lard-filled tubbos either. And, I think it's debatable if the artists here really considered these women "beautiful" or if they were just trying to be edgy.

Being well-fed was a sign of wealth in those times. I think it was a combination of overweight = rich and the artistic fashions of the time leaning towards those kinds of models in paintings.

Greece, for example, in antiquity had a trend of super ripped bodies and tiny penises in their art.

Have y'all ever seen bushmen? Tiny fellas the lot but all wiry and pure muscle. If you've got to move all day to get enough to eat it's utterly impossible to get fat. Getting fat was an unheard of luxury. You couldn't even if you tried.
Being a fatty was a sign of power and wealth for a long time. Naturally, you'd depict your gods in that way. These days, it's being fit that's considered a luxury because you can afford the money and most importantly time to exercise and eat healthy, hence the model ideal being buff for men or slim for women. Being fat is, today, something for poor fuckers.

Look at sculptures of gods, especially the male ones. All of them pretty buff motherfuckers for the time. Everyone that is even remotely fit knows the effort that takes with exercise (not hard to come by if hard labour is your trade), protein high and low sugar food (to former expensive but the latter much more) and good rest.

Just some normal, happy woman being fat? Pretty much impossible up until well after the Renaissance. But I don't expect people too stupid to be allowed to live to understand human nature or history.

I'd say it wasn't until the Bronze Age when you even got a social class that could be wealthy and decadent enough to focus on their mad gains like that.

Maybe some creepazoid got a bit too fascinated by a drowned corpse.

I would let Sarah verbally humiliate me to an orgasm while she just giggles at me.
