My father was a tank driver. The license you get from that, at least here, isn't valid for cars. It's for vehicles that drive on chains. So it's for excavators and stuff like that.
That said, he made his truck, tank, motorbike and car licenses there. In my time they already weren't transferable anymore for some reason. Another reason why I happily dodged the mandatory military service.
