Well not much to add to tictac autism in the ms development in 0079, in the first months of the war the feddies mostly had conventional equiment like planes and tanks and balls, and with minovsky particle zeon just gangbanged the feddies with all their ms development until the feddies got the results of v program with the gundam and the mass produced units.

I know Seed gets a lot of shit, but I thought they did an interesting take on the human vs. evolved human hate.
I like seed despise his flaws, of course takes the structure of 0079 and the tech tree development is decent, and of course after the freedom appears with the beam spam kinda ruin the strategic part of the series, they could have explained that the nuclear powered gundams had some cool off to avoid keep doing the beam spam but I dont recall in any part of the series where they mentioned that, at least in the final part of the series they compensated with druggies teamwork as enemy until the final battle when got even more beam spam with the meteor  . about characters and plot in general thats another story.
Good ol beam spam. I liked some of the characters alright. A few like Cagalli, Flay, and VagasilBadgiruel sucked, but they also had some strong ones like Mu. Kira wasn't even that bad as people give him, dude was haggard and PTSDed the fuck out through a good deal of the series. Whenever I hear that Jesus Yamato shit it's always from cringey faggots who think that Wing is the pinnacle of the franchise and that Homo Yuy can do no wrong despite him doing way more ridiculous shit like self destructing with himself inside his suit and letting Zechs slash him repeatedly in a beam saber duel across the cockpit.

I remember gaming online and talking Gundam, some dude chimes in and links me to this autism overload video of a sperg bitching about Seed that I'd somehow seen before, claiming the guy was his friend like it was something to be proud of. I think my first words were "oh god you're friends with this faggot?"

Seed Destiny was more where Kira become jesus yamato , to "save" the series, destiny in general is a mess in every aspect maybe excepting the OST and the tech development was complete bullshit, shit like having the akatsuki fully developed since seed and not using because...no idea  . Seed is a decent entry as alternate universe, not at the level of UC stuff but is it watchable as it helps like a entry series for people that wants to start watching stuff from the franchise.

Wing is a guilty pleasure for me and the main problem is that series doesn't stick to his own rules, like ms explode when the plot says so, for example in the ovas when they need the gundam to the sun to destroy them at the start, and in the end they just pushed a button with explosives  , there are some decentes characters, like sechs and treize and they exploited the mobile doll concept really well until the gundams got their upgrades the the AI was worthless. But anyway most of the concepts of wing are way better developed in 00.

Seed Destiny was a rushed mess, I think it’d been better if they’d taken a couple of years to rethink it. The borrowing from UC/Zeta was definitely a lot more prominent there. Don’t even get me started on dumb shit like Meer Campbell. One waifu was perfect enough.

Zechs and Trieze were way more interesting than anything else the series had to offer. I’d have loved if the series were focused on those two and crazy hot psycho Lady Une. Mmmmh, love me some kooky bitches.

I know it has flaws (and the movie sucked ass) but I loved 00.

First of all, love this thread.

Second, didn't one of the Ground Types use a beam rifle at some point? Or is my memory faulty per usual?

I know Seed gets a lot of shit, but I thought they did an interesting take on the human vs. evolved human hate.
I think you see them using beam rifles once or twice in 08th MS, but the majority of Ground Gundams are using conventional machine guns and artillery pieces. There might be a part where some allied Ground Gundams are using a laser artillery piece fed with a hose, but I can't remember.

I mean, even GMs can use beam weapons. They just aren't issued any aside from spray guns because it's too expensive.
Beam spray gun. The weapon nobody wanted to get stuck with.

Coincidentally I was reading up on the different mobile suit manufacturers from UC earlier so I can weigh in a bit here. Zimmad made the excellent Dom/Rick Dom designs, but they also shit the bed with the Gyan, Zudah, and the Gogg, which was arguably the worst of the amphibious Zeon suits.

Zeonic on the other hand was the chad company with designs such as the Zaku II and most of its variants, the Gouf, Acguy, and the ultra chadtacular Gelgoog, which was a kickass suit, not to mention the rad Kampfer.

MIP was the oddball who gave us weird shit like the Zakrello, Dopp, and Bigro. They did however give us the Z'Gok which is a kickass suit on land and in water if you ask me.

Apparently the Gyan was intended to rival the Gelgoog...that's fucking hilarious.
I take issue with the idea of the Z'Gok because Zeon only needed aquatic suits at all for the Earth invasion. The majority of combat during the war was actually in space or in the Sides. It's the only really good aquatic suit but I think the whole idea of aquatic suits was a waste of time and money better spent on producing more Doms. Not only is the Dom a baller suit on land, but the Rick Dom is pretty nice in space. It's not like the Federation were dominating in the water anyway.

The Gelgoog is a great mobile suit but again, it was too expensive. Much like the Gundam. The Kampfer is the fucking Ferrari of mobile suits and my favorite MS in the entire series, but that was also too expensive for production.

Also, Mah Nigga reading John Steakley's Armor. I read that a few months ago and it was great. I got pissed off when the story switched over the Jack Crow's perspective, but they brought it back in the end. Nothing will ever beat Starship Troopers for me, but Armor is pretty great. There's an excellent short story collection called "Armoured" that's worth buying. Alistair Reynold's "Trauma Pod" is the highlight, imo.

This is some excellent Gundam autism.

And Zeon's obsession with way too many aquatic models was weird. They're pretty darn specialized, and who cares if some Earthling scum is faffing around on a sub after you've claimed orbital space superiority?

Fucking night and day. That's because the main trio wanted the whole robot conflict to be more gritty andhave their robots look more like war weapons rather than super heroes. That's why the Zakus look like they do and the Guntanks were made. But the sponsors pushed them, so they made the main character use the magical Super Robot knock-off and they focused on making all kinds of weird designs for the grunts. Boy, god for them that the sponsors pushed, because while Japan wanted to bang Char and Sieg all the Zeons, nobody bought the Zakus. Nobody.
I am disappoint in Glorious Nippon. I can't even. I can't fucking even.
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

I think of the three main aquatic suits the Z’Gok was the most versatile. Integrated beam weapons with cooling systems unlike the Gogg, solid melee, and overall a decent filler unit. I think it could have done okay to back up some R Doms in space if ever needed, assuming those thrusters meant for water could offer some mobility. It’s definitely a land suit though. Still love the Acguy, it’s such a weird little suit, but surprisingly well made in terms of lore. Glad to hear you like the Kamper, it really is the high end sports car, makes the Gyan look like butt even more by comparison. Gyan was the Homer car of the series, meant for one guy and one guy only.

Armor has been a great recovery read for me, and fuck yeah Starship Troopers. I’ll definitely see about that collection afterward too, I’ve been on a kick if it weren’t obvious.

I like it too, and the movie  I'm fine with alternate universe trying new stuff, I would say that for me the movie had some pacing issues and the lack of an epilogue but maybe we will see some ova in the future, I have some hope considering the release of that play in japan with those magazine scans about some side story post els invasion having graham using a Exia R4 with condensers.

The most notorious acuatic ms that I remember is the Kapool in ZZ, it appers for some episodes but it is used a lot in turn a gundam.

My favorite aquatic mobile suit is the Hygogg.

It's a pretty shit design for anything other than water combat, but I like the way it looks.

I’m curious to see what happens. ELS was an interesting idea and something unique for the franchise, but it was just...I dunno, it felt off with me. The franchise did plant that idea early on at least so props to them.

I think the worst thing 00 did was with Lockon. It wasn’t his demise that bothered me, but the fact that they made his brother a carbon copy to the point where it’s like he never left. They should have given him a different look and other traits to set himself apart.

Hygogg is badass rabid. Z’Gok E is another cool one, it’s like a super jacked Z’Gok.
