He kind of does, at least on what he consumes. From everything I've seen, Gen X is very much "If it's older than me, it's garbage, if I was too old for it, it's garbage" thing that Bob does.
Speaking as a millennial, that could quite easily describe the attitude of a lot of people my age. They're the people most likely to use the dreaded 'It was before my time' when asked about something older than them
Nah, our generation doesn't mind listening to old shit. A lot of old as fuck bands have audiences half their age at their concerts now (just go to a metal show with an old band playing, guys in their 50s are playing to crowds who are almost all under 30) and Millenials were very "LOL 80s amirite" even though many of them are too young to remember it. The Gen Xers fucking hated anything that came before them and truly thought they were the greatest generation ever. The Simpsons made fun of it when Bart and Lisa said Homer listened to "Dinosaur bands" in the Lollapalooza episode.

The internet had a lot to do with that, it was easy as fuck to discover older music for our generation.

Also Lupa’s grandmother? Please, we know that hag was alive and well back then. She’s like the dude from Highlander, only a cunt.

Exactly, I hated most of the music I grew up with, and still have an appreciation for the games Bob assumes I've never even heard of.

I'd say a lot of his condescension towards the younger generation is also a key factor, he assumes everyone is just like him in terms of shutting out anything outside of their personal sphere, not realising that the reason the old stuff he grew up with is still around is because there's a new audience for it, not just people his age still supporting it like he does.

No, Bob is a fount of olden gaming wisdom, a wealth of ancient knowledge plebs like you could never hope to comprehend! He read the manuals and Nintendo Power in the 90's and that's his entire foundation of who he is, dammit! Well, that and the one time a christfag fired him from an all access cable show for saying mean things about Passion of the Christ, causing him to obsessively hate everyone to the right of Mao for eternity. Don't tell him his surface level retro gaming trivia knowledge doesn't make him special!

We joke, but that is literally Brick-by-Brick. He unironically repeats the Doki Doki Panic trivia and everything

Imagine spending a billion US dollars to be a loser. Could've watched animu and be one for free.

Oh I know. Even the part about getting fired over The Passion is in there. Then he went and made an hour long video of the same story (which is probably exaggerated like hell to make himself look like more of a victim) lest anyone think he's capable of moving on and letting go of petty old shit.

You're being too generous. It's probably made up, just like his home made threesome porn story

Maybe, but SOMETHING put a stick up his ass about conservatives, and him getting fired because he refused to stop tipping his fedora after being told to by his employer is as plausible as anything. I don't believe any of the bullshit about the guy showing up to the studio with a gun and acting like some cartoon nutcase. It was probably the same exact shit that happened when he got fired from The Escapist. "Stop alienating our audience members with irrelevant controversial shit." "DUUUHR, RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY!" "Get out."

Sometimes, I wonder if he whined about Smash Ultimate not giving Simon Belmont, Mega Man and Pit their "iconic" outfits from Captain N.

I don't think so, mostly because Bob doesn't really lie about his past in that book. He openly admits to sitting in the car until everyone else goes to bed and psychologists wanting to put him on meds, he just tries to spin it in a way that he thinks makes him look good though he fails. I reckon there was a fight about Passion, but he's misremembering it or altering things to make him look good. Most likely, it was a shit review and he was told to shape up and write something decent, so he assumed he was being attacked for not praising the movie.

The threesome story I have a hard time buying though.

It's not really hard to understand why he hates conservatives. He's a sheltered, spoiled manbaby

He said in the book that he successfully psyched the psychiatrist when he tried to analyse him, either ripping off Good Will Hunting or Six Feet Under or both. So yes, I believe that Bob's story about the conservative local station owner dragging him into the back of his van and threatening him at gunpoint to give the Passion a good review was completely made up.
