It was just an origin story. I'll admit, compared to the other crap put out by CA, it wasn't that bad. The story was a little all over the place because, and he admitted this in the commentary, it's four stories mashed into one movie. You could have easily cut Spoony's character, though he did have some of the best scenes and he was the only one capable of actually acting besides Ed. But it was much better than a lot of things CA has put out.
