RIP Skyking
RIP Skyking
So, apparently some guy in Seattle decided to steal a commercial airliner and go out in a blaze of glory in the most over-the-top suicide imaginable. There's a sizable amount of audio out there from his communications with air traffic control, and--I have to say--the incongruity of it all is surreal. He comes across more as some guy shitposting to his heart's content on the internet than as a desperate, broken man hurtling to his doom in a stolen aircraft with F15s in tow.
The guy even did a barrel roll and a somersault before nosing down into an unpopulated island.
Apologies in advance if people here are already talking about this in one of the general threads.

Re: RIP Skyking
People were amazed he could fly a plane using only video game knowledge?
Planes have been getting more automated--and dumbed down--for years.

...and still: Spoony did nothing.

What a legend. Total Bitchfit wished he'd be remembered like this.

Re: RIP Skyking
This was/is a big deal around these parts. Somehow I missed it when it was going on. It would have been fun to see the live news coverage.
What he did was mostly harmless, but he did end up starting a fire in the woods where he crashed.
Ultimately, I think he did us a great service by exposing the flaw in the system. Because you know a Muzz would have eventually done this if he hadn't.
I saw an amateur video shown TV of the plane and you can hear a hysterical woman freaking out. It was pretty funny, I can't seem to find it online though. It was bleeped to hell on TV and I'd love to hear the uncensored version.

It's a shame that we had to bid farewell to Skyking as soon as we met him. I like him a lot better than those fucking jackasses who insist on taking a bunch of other people with them on their suicide missions.

Re: RIP Skyking
Probably not, in the recording you can hear him say stuff like "Wow, I bet this is prison for life for someone that does this?" and shit like that as they are trying to ask him to land. He was also running out of gas, and more than likely didn't know how to actually LAND the plane.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Aug 16, 2018 1:52 amWas suicide part of his plan?
