Re: Movieblob
It was pretty centrist-left as a whole. Pitts is clearly still just bitter that Archon didn't SHUT IT DOWN OY VEY when gamergate became an issue. But it's obvious Archon left the conversation up because gamers comprise their primary audience and he didn't want to alienate a large percentage of his readership. It's the most simple and reasonable course of action tbh. If over 50% of your readership were truthers (to use the sjw extreme comparison and pretend GG was totally unreasonable, which lel of course it wasn't), you'd still find a way to soft-soap the issue so the readers wouldn't leave.
I don't care who you are. You don't just alienate a large group of your audience and tell them to fuck off your website when you rely on them for your income.

GG gained a lot of momentum in those early days because all discussion of it was censored and all game sites took to shitting on their readers and declaring them and their legitimate concerns irrelevant because some people called Chelsea Van Valkenberg a whore.
Archon's the only one who did the sensible thing. He said we were wrong, we're sorry, we'll try to do better. If everyone else had done that there would have been no controversy.
He was a very intelligent man. God knows what the fuck he was doing in gaming journalism.

It's CURRENT YEAR+3, immediately brushing all concerns under the rug because .01% of people retweeting you called you a cunt is PR standard operating procedure at this point.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Tue Jul 31, 2018 8:13 amI don't care who you are. Re: Movieblob
Speaking of LamerGay the SJW narrative about it is now apparently in college textbooks.

Textbooks for gender studies. You know what you're getting into. I took a lot of worthless classes in college and if you don't expect worthless courses to be full of SJW propaganda, you're not paying attention.

So did that textbook just reprint some loser's blog entry or something?
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Re: Movieblob
What kills me about that? I actually followed some of what went on during Gamergate, if only because I always dig a bit when you only ever hear one side and what came out of that mess was so far to one side it was over the horizon.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu Aug 02, 2018 4:07 pmSo did that textbook just reprint some loser's blog entry or something?
It's not that hard to put an SJW-friendly spin on events without lying if you put in a little effort and word things intelligently. I think I just hit on the problem.
Re: Movieblob
There's literally no incentive for them to stay true to facts. All their fellow journalists agree with their opinion and will cite each other's articles as evidence of what really happened, even if it's an outright lie. Wikipedia will link to those articles as references for their article, and biased mods will throw out any articles proving contrary as "Not reliable sources" and firsthand evidence as "original research" and therefore inadmissible. No one can call them on it, so it's no surprise their articles are playing tennis with the net down.
So we end up with this overwrought Lifetime Original Movie version where a female developer breaks up with her abusive boyfriend and he accuses her of sleeping with a journalist for good reviews and sics an army of all-male misogynist hackers into witch hunting her for being a girl on the internet. That apparently happened like two years before it actually happened.

Re: Movieblob
I won't bore with details, even though I find them funny, but the messed up timeline for that part is that the game she made was effectively bookended with these, ahem, events. Once when it hit Greenlight via Wizardchan, later with the reviews and the Report that effectively started Gamergate.
