They still make flip phones with pay as you go; I may go back to one of those for if I get stuck on the side of the highway, far away from home.

Good on you. They are normalfag cancer, hence why I keep my Blackberry. I have to have a phone out of necessity but I don't want to deal with all the app faggot shit.
Just have the willpower not to install apps. Without a smartphone I couldn't sperg DHI on the go.
[Also I couldn't produce all my White Wolf books on pdf on a moment's notice. Voice would be proud.]

Technially, my Q10 is a smart phone. I could also side load most Android apps if I wanted to. But I got it because it's running on a better OS than Android and iOS and since I don't use apps I never felt like I had to update.
The stuff I do use it for, calls, messages and e-mail it does better than all that fuckboy shit from Samsung and Apple.

So, for a professional setting what's something good under $1,000? I've read some decent things about Tissot or Hamilton.

Oris is what I'd go for. Family-owned and pretty impressive stuff for the money.

If you want to look like and asshole carry a pocket watch.

I feel like a pocket watch gives more "fedora-wearing weirdo" vibe than "asshole".

Pocket watches only look right if you're a portly gentleman.
