There is no Halloween where I live, but I did hear they're making another movie with Carpenter scoring.

Most other places have their own version of a Day of the Dead type celebration that's usually steeped in culture beyond, "buy candy and spend your money, sheep."

Head south for Dia de los Muertos and you'll see just how soulless Halloween truly is.

It seems weird on the surface but it's them celebrating the lives of the dead that have passed on and they do it with festively decorated icons that we consider morbid in traditional western culture/society.

It's a great example of what can come from a different culture from your own and the fact that not everything will translate well.

There is a sort of Halloween thing here, which is more about celebrating ancient spirits who are tired of travelling from one realm to another and come asking for tribute door to door.
