Moronic? Yes, but it was foreseeable. This isn't the first global virus threat birthed from these types of markets. And why should they change the conditions in their own country if they've already started to blame the US for the virus? They dindu nuffin, for realz!
This is literally right out of half the doomsday fiction out there (the non-atomic bomb kind). How else do you get a global viral pandemic?

People have been warned about this for years, and now its finally here. And yes, there are no zombies at the moment. But it still sucks.

Zombies are so popular because it's a very comfy end times scenario. A clear enemy with defined rules in physical form. An enemy you can murder-death-kill with no mercy or having to feel bad about it. We're the descendants of people that bashed their enemies faces in with pole axes and war hammers. There's a bloodlust that isn't satisfied and the premise of a battlefield full of non-human humans to just fucking slay is so alluring that many wish for it, even at the cost of a total collapse of civilization.
But we're not going to get that favour. Instead, we either get an invisible enemy like some plague or nuclear warfare, something nobody can do jack shit about. It's like edging for a thousand years and not being allowed to cum.

Are we talking about zombambos or regular people?

I'd have to double proxy up to answer that question. It's the weekend and I could do without some SEK kicking my door in.

"Don't they feel embarrassed?"
Who started the outbreak, Wang.

Even the most idiotic of Burgerland ghetto trash and trailer park meth cookers don't created globe spanning pandemics through their poor hygiene.

How convenient that everyone was distracted by the Totally-Not-China Virus
