Exactly people forget how much Peggy gets knocked down a peg the whole series. Regarding her overinflated sense of her own intelligence, they mocked her for delusional in thinking she knew Spanish. There were a couple of episodes doing so. Partly in the beauty pageant episode and the one she goes to trial in Mexico for not realizing she kidnapped a kid. Even though she obviously was let go since she didn't intentionally kidnap the kid, it made her look like a moron who had no idea what the fuck she was talking about since she was bad at Spanish.
The defense's entire case was to prove Peggy was a bragging moron who couldn't speak a word of spanish.
She took a ton of shit. Hell, at some point, every character in king of the hill took some shit. But Peggy took a lot because she had a lot of personality flaws. Even so, at the end of the day, she deeply loved her husband, son and niece. She was a good person in spite of her problems. She went out of her way to help others and she truly cared about them. Her brother was a shallow user, her parents were emotionally distant/abusive and Leanne was a piece of shit. Nobody told her to become a second mother to Luanne. That's just what she did.
King of the Hill's writing is so far above simpsons it isn't even funny.

Well, a lot of the KOTH writers used to write The Simpsons when it was good. In fact, that's one of the reasons it started to become shit, most of the good writers left to work on other things

Greg Daniels was responsible for the quality of the show. It's no coincidence that after he left it started going to shit, killing off Cotton in one of the most despicable ways possible and bringing back terrible Flanderized versions of old characters like Gilbert Dauterive.
Even though most everyone was a lefty, including the abortion-loving Kathy Najimy, they put the characters first. In the commentary Daniels and the writer did for the gun competition episode, they talk about showing guns in a positive light because that's how it was in Texas, and they didn't want to do the typical liberal bullshit like having Hank almost shoot Bobby then decide to get rid of the gun.
To sum up, KOTH awesome, The SIMPSons not.

Same. I mean, she's the bitchy "No fun allowed"-member of the family. Marge tends to be like that as well, but even she knows how to loosen up every now and then.
