Climate Change and You
Re: Climate Change and You
I’ll just drop this off link from nature.com and researchgate, not sure if anyone here is familiar with the Grand Solar Minimum, apparently some scientists who are not aligned with the IPCC are now warning we are due for something like the Maunder Minimum:

We'll never see anything drastic in our lives, hell probably not for a extremely long time honestly. If they really want to combat something they need to look over to the fuckers in China who's whole country is nothing but air pollution.

Yup, here's another article on the subject.Tony Schiavone wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 9:07 pmNever mind the fact that a group of Finnish scientists wrote a paper that basically says the effect of human changes on the climate are insignificant.

I haven't seen much coverage of this study on major global news, maybe because it is against (((the narrative)))?
As if the only problem in the world were suddenly the man-made climate change. The same change that has existed for as long as history is known. Now the man has been involved in the change and the culprit has been found. It seems like there is competition amongst forecasters and witches who can make the wildest predictions about the consequences of man-made climate catastrophe.
Meanwhile there are real and big problems without solutions. In addition to developing local prosperity, it might be time for decision makers to prioritize their activities on a large scale and to focus globally on, among other things, stopping marine pollution, halting overfishing, and curbing overpopulation.

Re: Climate Change and You
During the Beijing Olympics they literally shut down all the factories so the air pollution wouldn't be toxic to tourists rather than, you know, fixing it. The biggest red flag is that the pro-climate change crowd don't say jack fucking shit about China despite them clearly not giving a shit at all. And in that piece of shit Paris Agreement it is non-binding, which means any countries the west give money to DON'T HAVE TO BUILD SHIT LIKE SOLAR FARMS AND WINDMILLS. Sure, they are meant to, but since it is non-binding they will face no punishment for just taking the money and running. No wonder Trump didn't sign it, it's clearly going to be used for money laundering to 3rd world dictators, and guess what? FUCKING CHINA is going to receive money. The country that builds ghost cities, is building the Belt and Road Initiative and is putting small countries in Debt Traps somehow doesn't have the money for green technology? Get fucked.
Nuclear Power is clearly the way to go, France has done well with it and it's proven to work. But those pricks in the Solar and Wind industries have leftists lobbying for their shit technology, and Chernobyl was an absolute godsend for the PR of those bastards.
China is sorting itself out with it's low as fuck birthrate, but the real issue in India and potentially Africa (if they don't kill each other). If the Vatican weren't dicks about condoms in Africa they wouldn't be having 10 kids with most of them dying by the age of 21, they'd have a natural birth rate and wouldn't be fighting over a lack of resources. Also, less AIDS.veris leta facies wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 8:56 amfocus globally on, among other things, stopping marine pollution, halting overfishing, and curbing overpopulation.

Every single problem boils down to too many people being around. Climate change doesn't matter. There's nothing stopping it until the next ice age, except maybe for Yellow Stone blowing up.
Everything will sort itself out in the end. Since mankind will never space travel everything will eventually be over anyway. Only the here and now and immediate future matter and that's what should be focused on.

Oh, I'm sure we will find a way to extinct ourselves long before either of these cataclysmic events happen.

Reminds me of the quote I heard from somewhere. I brought it up on here a few times. The universe trends towards entropy. In the lifetime of our universe, the amount of time spent with intelligent life present will be a speck on the windshield.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 1:03 pmEvery single problem boils down to too many people being around. The universe will sort us out and good if we don't do it ourselves. Plenty of species go extinct naturally in addition to the ones we've hunted to extinction. We'll just be another of those and eventually, they're won't be any life left at all. Unless there are a few tardigrades rolling around somewhere.
Poonoo is right that nuclear power is the future for our energy needs. As for food, I think we've about hit the tipping point on farmable/productive land the planet has. There are plenty of places where few people live, but it's usually because the land is incapable of producing enough food to sustain them. Our current agricultural methods supposedly contribute to growing the amount of desert/fallow ground on the planet, so one figures that + more unstable weather will drive up food scarcity, especially if populations continue to increase.
It's pointless for the first world west to beat ourselves up about this when so much of the pollution and overpopulation is happening in places like china tbh. The best thing we could probably do for pollution as a country (speaking as a burgerican) would be to tax China-made goods a lot more and cut down on trade with them.

Human beings have simply been around for too long. Every time we were supposed to go extinct like every other species (black plague, etc.) we figured out a way to cheat death through medicine or technology or whatever.

Even in the worst-case scenario, the plague would've only wiped out humans in Europe. It is only thanks to the magic of air traffic that a fiendish enough virus or bacteria could doom us all.
That might actually not be the most unlikely of scenarios, what with places like India being breeding grounds for super-resistant bacteria. That shit is just waiting to hit the fan.
