German Cabinet passes deportation draft bill at odds with EU law
The proposed law could see unsuccessful asylum seekers detained in prison.

The German Cabinet on Wednesday passed draft legislation aimed at speeding up the deportation of unsuccessful asylum seekers, but critics warn it would break EU law.

The draft bill, dubbed "Geordnete-Rückkehr-Gesetz" (orderly return law), has prompted criticism from across the political spectrum.

Among its most contentious aspects is a proposal that unsuccessful asylum seekers awaiting deportation could be placed in ordinary prisons alongside convicted criminals, which would likely constitute a breach of EU law.

The European Court of Justice ruled in 2014 — in a judgment against Germany — that deportees could only be held in prisons on an exceptional basis.

The interior ministry defended the idea, saying that the country's specialized detention facilities only have 500 spots available for deportees awaiting removal. In prisons, deportees would be housed separately from criminals.

Germany deported 23,600 people last year, but nearly 31,000 who were obliged to leave managed to stay, according to government data.

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer has repeatedly pledged to ensure that more unsuccessful asylum seekers actually leave the country.

Even members of the governing coalition parties criticized the plans, with the Christian Democrat justice minister of North Rhine-Westphalia speaking of "considerable legal and actual concerns."

The justice minister of Hesse, also a Christian Democrat, told Handelsblatt that the draft bill contravenes European law, adding: "You just have to imagine, families with children would be housed together with rapists and other criminals."

If passed, the law would also make it an offense for civil servants to warn unsuccessful asylum seekers that deportation is imminent. Initial plans would also have made it illegal for volunteers working with asylum seekers to do so, but that aspect was dropped after criticism from NGOs.

The dates of planned deportations would be designated official secrets, meaning that anyone encouraging civil servants to disclose such information could also make themselves liable to prosecution.

As for social benefits, the draft law wants refugees who have already been granted international protection by another EU state not to be entitled to financial support in Germany.

Asylum seekers who do not cooperate with the authorities in providing identifying documentation could have their social benefits reduced.

The draft bill has yet to pass through parliament. Seehofer is hoping for the law to come into force by July, according to German media reports.

Good, good.. Finally some sense into this rapefugee circus. If your asylum request is denied -> your ass goes to prison where you wait your deportation. This is how it should be in civilized countries (well, if we had my way, rapefugees would experience something quite different, but let's not go into that now), like in the US where people being illegally in the country are detained (and those detain centers can be quite hellholes, I believe). It's so utterly retarded to let these subhuman savages to wander freely on the streets.

Only problem is that prisons within the EU are too nice. We should dig some holes to the ground, dump them in and let them wait their deportation there in their feces. Feed them with pig heads and such slaughterhouse leftovers, if you need to feed them at all.

And when it comes to deportations we need more cost-effective transportation and logistics system for that, deporting them all on airplanes is fucking expensive. I'm thinking more sea transport.. According to my calculations, one 20′ intermodal container (TEU) can pack approx. 310 Afgan goatherds and Somali jungle negroids (the maximum amount of cargo per TEU is approx. 21600 kilograms, divide this with an average weight of a goatfucker 70 kg). If one average container ship can hold 10000 TEU, we could get rid of over 3 million apes with only one sea transport! Unload them back to the Libyan shore and they can wander wherever the fuck they want from there.

Problem solved! Anchors aweigh!

I wouldn't celebrate so soon. Imprisoning refugees next to regular criminals is a bit iffy under our constitution and could result in the whole thing getting shafted later.

This bill was also written by one of our Bavarian politicians, who are really good at coming up with stuff that turns out to be unconstitutional later. Must be all that Weißbier.

Capitalism seen doing "more harm than good" in global survey

https://www.edelman.com/sites/g/files/a ... Report.pdf

In a recent international survey, 56 percent of respondents believed that capitalism "in its current form" did more harm than good.

Image

The survey reached 34000 people in 28 countries, including the US, France, China and Russia. The most skeptical of capitalism were in both Thailand and India with 74% of respondents. In France the corresponding percentage was 69. More than half of the respondents believed in capitalism only in Australia, the US, South Korea, Hong Kong and Japan. It's a pity no Nordic country was included in the survey, it would have been interesting to see what numbers would have been reached, because capitalism is really hated here, a left-wing social order is one explanatory factor for skepticism about it. Citizens do not understand how they live in a leftist regime and the damage it is doing to its economy through high taxes, rigid labor markets and state interference in the market.

But even in the States, capitalism's promised land, only 53 percent believed in it anymore. What the hell has happened? One could also thoroughly question the whole question, because the definition of 'capitalism "in its current form"' does not really mean anything, or at least there is no consensus on the content of the term. How is capitalism in its present form different from, for example, some other form of capitalism in the past? By general definition, capitalism is a private ownership economic system characterized by private ownership of the means of production, free markets, , public trading in company shares, and a system of private property rights. Has something relevant changed lately?

It is questionable to make inquiries about large and complex issues if there is a risk that the respondent may arbitrarily make his or her own interpretation of what is being asked at all. The respondents answer the questions asked, but when the questions are vague, the answers are random and interpretations are arbitrary. And the mistake of such queries is the use of unspecified or vague concepts and emotionally appealing questions. What is meant by "capitalism in its current form" is again a matter of imagination, which depends on the country, the respondent, the state of mind of the respondent and how the question is asked. Some think the word "capitalism" refers to something selfishly super-rich, and the word "socialism" is synonymous with kindness, generosity and tolerance.

And what does it mean to "cause more harm than good"? Causes harm or good compared to what? Compared to some pie in the sky from a barrel of dreams? Compared to some natural tribal community? Or compared to some alternative econimic systems that naturally should even be named?
