This wouldn't be happening if the EU's solution to the refugee kerfuffle hadn't been some one-sided deal that would ensure a not entirely trustworthy partner would get all the cards. Now that partner has invaded a neighboring country and is crying victim status after the neighbor has started to fight back.
Now this whole refugee drama might start all over again, and the EU has basically no backup plan besides hoping that their less tolerant Eastern European members have built enough barbed wire fences.
