My archeology instructor at college told me that serious archeologists and anthropologists must learn German. This is because many of the definitive texts are written in German. Much early preservation work was done there and many artifacts are still in Germany.

The Ishtar gate may be a reconstruction. I can't remember. But there are smaller artifacts I've seen in books from Assyrian, Babylonian and Uruk culture which are simply breathtaking.

The more you describe Turks in your country the more they sound like the Lebanese in Australia. The difference is that a lot of our Lebanese are like New York Italians where they have their own made up accent that sounds nothing like how people talk in the homeland but attempts to make them sound tougher than they are.

Some of the younger Turks do that as well. They speak with an Arab accent because they think it makes them sound hard. It's mostly the ones that can't even speak Turkish properly.

The Lebanese here are less numerous but they are practically all criminals. Most of them left their country because they are fleeing the law there.
