I have a question for our Krautland natives: how fucked up was Herr Merkel that she had to issue this apologetic statement and assume all the blame herself, and how confident is she that this won't affect her political position and she still stays as chancellor no matter what?

That's exactly why she is doing this, not the relevant ministers who go through borderline DSP-ian lengths to mask their own incompetence in this lockdown extravaganza.

I'm amazed that she actually apologised. Here in Britain, Boris Johnson just says 'Yeah we're locking down again. The fuck you going to do about it?' They're not even ashamed of themselves at this point
