Can anyone answer this: why are East Germans so in favour of immigration? All other ex-soviet occupation areas are all against the current EU rapefugee-policy. Why are East Germans exception in this? Yes, I know soviet soldiers raped pretty much all their women, maybe something like 90% of ossies born after 1950 are 50% of Russians. But still, what the fuck?!

They aren't. It's just a place of extremes. They are either commie shits wishing for the return of the soviets or the most right wing people you'll find in this nation. Overall, east Germany is easily the most hostile place for immigrants.

The most welcoming area would be the west. The New Years rape fest was in Cologne and the local police was pretty much "lol okay who cares?" about it.

I guess it's similar to how it works in Burgerland: A big metropolis like Berlin is pozzed af, but then it gets progressively more right-wing as you move to the countryside where you have a whole lot of nothing because the economy of Eastern Germany got fucked hard thanks to socialism.

Yeah, I guess the east is much more intolerable than the west, but still, East Germany is IMO much more pro-immigration than Eastern Europe, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia etc. They all share the same shitty Soviet occupation history. From my point of view, if we compare Sweden-Finland-Estonia, Estonian people are much more anti-immigration/rapefugee than Finns, and Finns are generally not half as pro-rapefugee than Swedish generally. It all follows the pattern of the most recent national crisis: Estonians had the Soviet occupation (ended in 1991), Finns had WW2 (ended in 1945) whereas Swedish have had peace and prosperity continuously over 100 years. The more recent the latest national crisis, the more value the people of the nation are able to give for their national independence and for policy that drives first and foremost the interest of their citizens. East Germany makes an exception in this and I really can't point out why it is so. Maybe it's some bizarre combination of Nazi guilt, communist indoctrination and some inferiority complex towards West Germans and they try to compensate their inferiority by acting as "westerner" as they can?

A lot of East Germans lived as refugees themselves during the months preceding the fall of the Berlin Wall. They clogged the Austrian embassy in Hungary, if I'm not mistaken, because it was the first place where the Iron Curtain became permeable; then, when that road was closed to them, they flocked to Czechoslovakia.

IIRC, the original commie plan to open the Wall would involve stamping the passport of people crossing into West Berlin with a stamp that would forbid them coming back to East Berlin - basically making them literal stateless refugees into West Germany.

They wouldn't have been stateless for long once they've touched Western soil.
