Well, you said it yourself, had he planned to keep his mouth shut they would've offed him anyway. Talking and trying to get himself out of the mess was the only thing he had left. He was used to get his way in life more than most people and taking a chance at getting away with it and possibly getting himself killed in the process is a better option than not doing so and getting killed anyway.

He wasn't just some random fuckboy that was in charge of a pedo ring. He had highly valuable info. I'd rate his chances of somehow getting out of being in prison for life as at least somewhat realistic. Seeing how he was willing to talk I think he thought so as well.

But that's just it though. Even if he'd somehow gotten off scot free in exchange for testimony, he'd constantly be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. All the people he flipped on would want to make sure he died in the most painful way possible. If he killed himself at least he'd die on his terms, not somebody else's

Unless Trump has some skeletons he'd be wise to launch an investigation.

No. No, I haven't.

SDNY Public Corruption Unit are the ones handling the Epstein investigation now. They don't handle sex crimes/trafficking but rather deal with crime and corruption committed by elected and appointed public officials, of which Epstein was neither.

This ain't over yet.

And now the guards who "forgot" do keep checking in on him have been suspended. Wonder how many of them will ever turn up again...

And you don't think he'd have taken his chances? Or fight to get a real comfortable jail cell and protection? He was still rich as hell and thus had power of his own.
At best it was assisted suicide in the sense of "You hang yourself or you get stabbed right now.".
