Irrelevant. Afghanistan is a mountainous country full of caves. To argue that the Chinese will somehow succeed where the British, the Russians, the Americans and god knows who else have failed because they are more ruthless is to gravely misunderstand why they failed in the first place. You can't brutalise a people if you can't get your hands on them in the first place

Logistics always trump ideology. But "fighting terror" is impossible on a purely idealistic front anyway, because anyone can become a terrorist in seconds, just by picking up a pointy object or getting behind a wheel with murderous intent. You can never win the war on terror for this reason. "Winning the war on terror" is like "winning the war on homicide."
