White liberals and black Twitter are now hiding behind this tweet saying “ Yeah, get those racists! Samurai descendants, verifying that we were in fact KANGZ!”

Retainers are samurai. Retainers have always been samurai.

Re: Black Lives Matter?
People bring up the Ubisoft Yasuke thing because it's such a painfully obvious "it's all so tiresome" moment. An entire nation full of Japanese people, and who does Ubisoft pick as the main character for a period samurai video game?
The ONE black dude. Literally the one.
And a woman. Women in feudal societies were not powerless, but cmon now. Male and female roles in a rigid caste system were pretty... Pretty well fixed. There was some social mobility up until Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Eiyasu eliminated it. They benefited from the social mobility afforded by civil war and unrest, but when they obtained power themselves they worked tirelessly to stamp out any such opportunities for others. All this to say I don't think a woman would be allowed to sneak around in the shadows and murder samurai. Yasuke's job as Oda's retainer was probably to stand around and look black, mostly. Japanese are super racist.
Edit: It gets even better:

Kunoichi are a fucking meme, btw.He was sometimes made to carry Nobunaga-sama's tools.
Kunoichi (titty ninja) are something you employ in a pulpy animu like Nigga Scroll. Ubishit trying to be all "this is how it really was, there were black kang zamurai and wombyn of the shadows assassinating samurai!" Is silliness. Spies and scouts existed historically but "ninja" as they are conceived today did not.Recent research by Mie University historians Yūji Yamada, Katsuya Yoshimaru, and others indicates that there are no historical records of the existence of female ninja who conducted reconnaissance and subversive activities in the same manner as their male counterparts.[1][2] According to Yoshimaru, kunoichi came to mean "female ninja" in the creative works largely due to the influence of Futaro Yamada's Ninpōchō series.[1]
During the Edo period, kunoichi was used as a cant term to refer to a woman and had no meaning for a female ninja. However, the term has very few examples of usage, most likely because the writing style at the time was not composed of the three strokes attributed to kunoichi.[1]

"B-b-but Nioh!"
That was also dumb. A nation of japanese and they pick the one huwhito piggu. But that game was made by japanese specifically to appeal to a western market of souls fanboys, so at least it kinda makes sense. They fixed their mistake by Nioh 2, adding full character creation and default characters who look and are Japanese.

They're now trying to argue that retainers were always "actual, fully-realized samurai you guiz" in a desperate bid to enforce the revisionism, even though they were of a far lower rank akin to a gokenin.Old Black Man wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 7:48 amWasn’t Oooga Booga I mean Yasuka just a retainer or some basic bitch?
And yes, Yasuke was, indeed, a basic bitch. He was Oda's personal trophy that carried his weapons around for his actual troops. He would've barely ever fought on the battlefield, which would've made him worse than a gokenin (he would've been the near-equivalent of a serf ).
Also, the Kikepedia shills (right on cue) are trying to rewrite history in light of Ubishit's slop.

This seems to be the biggest black-related shitshow in Wikipedia's talk pages since that time people wanted to turn Mozart black. Or Beethoven. I keep forgetting which one it was again.
Oh, and Cleopatra, of course.
If you wanted to blend in in typical AssCreed fashion, the only historical solution is to dress up like a peasant or wandering monk (or just some busy-looking dude in a kimono if you're in a fancy city).
There may have been 3DPD used for information gathering duties, but there's a good chance they were just geisha and/or concubines.

Everything even halfway pop culture about ninja is a meme, from their iconic getup (actually borrowed from theater stagehands) to their iconic weapon (the ninjato is most likely a modern invention with no basis in history).

Re: Black Lives Matter?
Geez the black dudes that were in the SoK that I hung around for sometime after the whole Leaving the group thing have jumped on the Yasuke bandwagon and started all that “if you hate Yasuke I hope you had that same energy for William Adams and Nioh You fucking racist!” Even calling out other Black people and calling them hypocrites for not being on the bandwagon as well.
It’s funny because these people loved Nioh when it came out and they praise the game for being really good because it is really fucking good but ever since George Floyd, they really changed.

Re: Black Lives Matter?
Oh dear, what a kook you've discovered. A white gaijin bitch who falsely claims to be descended from Samurai.
Yasuke is nothing more than a historical footnote. Almost nothing is known about him. I would hazard a guess that not even most Japanese people knew who he was.

Re: Black Lives Matter?
It doesn’t help that the people supporting Yasuke say well, if you wanna play a samurai game with a Japanese protagonist, you can always play rise of the Ronin or ghost of Tsushimarabidtictac wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 10:45 amPeople bring up the Ubisoft Yasuke thing because it's such a painfully obvious "it's all so tiresome" moment.
