I've always found it really funny that Pike somehow went from being arguably the coldest, most brooding captain (when performed by Jeffrey Hunter in 1965) to cutesy space dad in the new show (Anson Mount)

They both seem to be the voice actors.
Why she looks better? Obviously she was put on voice-acting duty to hide her conventional beauty from the rest of the world.

Does anyone watch Lower Decks or the current Trek?

I saw the first few episodes of Strange New Worlds.

It was okay. They went back to the classic formula and the characters aren't bad, but it's seriously lacking in grit.

Now, I don't need my Star Trek to be dark as shit or anything, but Strange New Worlds is so easygoing it might as well be a marshmallow.

Pike is a kindly space dad who holds big family dinners. Spock is largely played for laughs (although his actor does a bang on Nimoy impression). The pilot is Rainbow Dash in all but name. Nurse Chapel is a horny slut.

It's watchable if you just want comfort food Trek, but don't expect much substance.

If I want comfort Trek, that's what the original series is for.
