I saw the first few episodes of Strange New Worlds.

It was okay. They went back to the classic formula and the characters aren't bad, but it's seriously lacking in grit.

Now, I don't need my Star Trek to be dark as shit or anything, but Strange New Worlds is so easygoing it might as well be a marshmallow.

Pike is a kindly space dad who holds big family dinners. Spock is largely played for laughs (although his actor does a bang on Nimoy impression). The pilot is Rainbow Dash in all but name. Nurse Chapel is a horny slut.

It's watchable if you just want comfort food Trek, but don't expect much substance.
