Picard was worth it purely to see Patrick Stewart ham it up as an evil smuggler with an OTT French accent
Sounds like an SNL skit.
Let Stewart and his fans have their Picard. It is slowly, beautifully killing off Star Trek with each episode of a tired old man trying to be cool.

I've heard people say it's somehow worse than STD

Imagine spending a billion US dollars to be a loser. Could've watched animu and be one for free.

Isn't that what they used to say about the Abrams films? Enterprise? Voyager?
Arguably even Deep Space Nine before it really took off.

Having seen both, I wouldn't go that far.
Picard's main issue is incoherence - it goes for this really convoluted plot that intertwines Romulan, Borg and Data's backstories. If one of those three was cut out, it's be a lot more watchable. The concept of an older Picard staying true to his morals in a changing world isn't fundamentally a bad one, but I don't think it's well executed.

Discovery's just rotten to the core. Patrick Stewart could be literally an urn of ashes and he'd still be better than Mary Sue Burnham.

On a more positive note, I've been checking out some clips from the old animated series, mainly 'cause my childhood memories consists of vague memories of one episode.
Part of me thought the show might try to be a bit hipper and dumbed-down for the kids, but it's pretty much TOS in animu form. It's like they had an entire stash of leftover scripts and went "Fuck this, lets animate this - with three-armed dudes and furries!"
The guy that played Chekov found out he wasn't going to be on the show at a convention after he had already written a script. That's why that three-armed guy is there. Filmation was also going to leave out Sulu and Uhura, but Leonard Nimoy said he wouldn't be on the show if they were left out. (Not sure why he didn't care about Walter Koenig, though.)

Guess he was the eRod of the cast.

Might be because, strictly speaking, Chekov's not an original cast member. He joined in Season 2, which gave me some serious Mandela Effect cause I could've sworn he was in Season 1

You and the writers of Wrath Of Khan.
Also, strictly speaking, is anyone an original cast member besides Nimoy? Only he and Roddenberry's wife were in The Cage.

Now that you mention it, I can recall episodes that had some other guy instead of Checkov
