Dead Horse Interchange

So I was watching the TNG episode "Where Silence Has Lease" yesterday.
This episode has one part that really pisses me off.

At the beginning of the episode, Wesley Crusher is sitting at Conn at the beginning of the episode. Then during a commercial break, Wesley is inexplicably gone and this redshirt black guy is suddenly sitting in his place. And then this happens:

After the next commercial break, Wesley is back in the chair like nothing happened. That should have been Wesley.

Who gives a shit about Wesley? All this Wesley whining just cracks me up because he's the most... meh character.

Wesley is to Star Trek what Navi is to Legend of Zelda: An annoying shit that got memed into something way more insufferable than it actually was.

Wesley was a Mary Sue, Roddenberry's self-insert.
But compared to the woke Mary Sues of today, like Michael Burnham, he doesn't seem so bad anymore.
