Watched Die Hard 2 yesterday. I was expecting it to be mostly a less effective copy of the original(since, you know... no Rickman), but I was actually surprised at just how much of a downgrade it was. The decision to have McClane constantly throw himself at the terrorists as opposed to the awesome stealth shit from the first movie was a rubbish idea, along with most of the oneliners being about how this is just like that time in Nakatomi last year.
Positives? Although Denis Franz's character is shit, he's still entertaining when he does his thing. Bruce Willis does what he can with the limited material. The ValJohnson cameo was sweet. The plane crash scene is intense, easily the best part of the film. And although I know McClane goes on to divorce his wife, I liked that they weren't in marital trouble this film. The Atherton reporter character was actually better utilised and developed. Basically, small character moments keep the movie going.

The action scenes still hold up and Renny Harlin hadn't turned into the shit director he became in later years. It's really the script that lets everyone down. It's not particularly smart and dumbass stuff like "shit in your brains or the lead in your ass" really make it seem schlocky. Love the fight on the plane wing though.
Is goddamn Die Hard Begins still happening?

"Live Soft" would be a funnier prequel title.

Hard to believe it started off as Rapid Fire 2. Either it was going to be low budget as hell or they had ridiculous plans for Brandon Lee.

This is it, folks, the end of the world. They've officially remade Child's Play:
From the producers of shIT and starring Aubrey Plaza. Probably PG-13 too.
