Dark Universe never died, it just got really low budget and lame.
I liked Upgrade because of the action scenes, but Leigh Wannell also directed those awful Insidious sequels and proved himself one of the hackiest schlocksters in Hollywood. Why he's being treated like some avant garde maverick now is beyond me. Elizabeth Moss? Meh.
