I had never seen him in anything before it so I thought he was alright.

Same, but I've also never seen him in anything since.
Willem Defoe was cool as crazy mechanic man.
Not sure if Cronenberg really know how video games worked. But it was 99', maybe it was "a different time."
I've had Dark City on Blu-ray for years and never put it on. Gotta hook up my player, if I can find it.
Never seen Screamers.

Defoe somehow always manages to be awesome, for a queer of course.

I've seen Law in some other flacks. Pretty alright IMO, if a bit lacking in facial expressions.

I recall having seen Screamers once, but that was a looong while ago and I only remember like the first few minutes or something.

I personally appreciate how he handled it more like the Matrix or a Star Trek holodeck. Going down the actual video game route tends to produce cringe even nowadays.

So that's your new task then, guys. Check out Screamers at some point. It's based on a novel by Phillip K. Dick and takes place in a post apocalyptic world.

I remember screamers from when I caught that on tv as a kid. Pretty scary back then lol but ive seen it a couple more times since then and it still holds up. I even feel this movie should have been a bit longer the ending went a bit quick. Cant say why exactly or I might spoil something.

I remember there being a sequal too but I cant seem to recall that one as well. Does that one hold up too Kugel or is it one of those trash sequals?

I vaguely remember having seen it. I couldn't tell you how it was. Can't be that great.

Saw Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects(I figured I'd watch this and House of 1000 Corpses ahead of the new one he's making).

It was a pretty big improvement, although still fell short in some aspects. I liked that they fleshed out the family better, cut out the deadwood and gave Sid Haig way more to do. The whole supernatural bullshit from the end of the last film was out.

On the other hand, I kinda missed the crazy experimental feel of the first film and Bill Moseley's character would've worked a lot better if he was played more for laughs as his constant bickering with everyone started to get on my nerves. Also, having the Leatherface ripoff from the first film randomly return and kill the sherriff was a bit anticlimactic(although I suppose the ending made up for it).

Overall, much better, but I feel like Zombie can do even better than that. If you combined elements from both films, you'd have a winner.
