Maybe, but it's still worth trying, if only to remind people that Dune exists. For a sci-fi classic, it's been flying under the radar for far too long.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 1:17 amMy point still stands. Now this is half a film and they might not even make the other half

Not really
A) They're not going to do it right and therefore there's no point in doing it
B) There's also no point in attempting it in a film format when Lynch's film already proved that film was not the best format for this material

Maybe some super niche korean horror/thriller shit, but otherwise no.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 6:52 amIs any movie worth trying anymore with the state Hollywood is in?
Even the japanese horror movies are trash now. Grudge part 12 or some boring gorefest "parody."

Dune should be adapted the way it was always meant to be adapted: as a harem animu.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 4:18 amB) There's also no point in attempting it in a film format when Lynch's film already proved that film was not the best format for this material
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Re: Movie Thread
I really wanted to like Die Hard With A Vengeance more than I did, but it's a mess. I know these films are based on other works, but here, it really was obvious that all the Die Hard material was grafted onto some completely different story(Simon Says), that turned out to be an hour-long goose chase.
Whilst Jeremy Irons is a worthy successor to Alan Rickman, the actual Gruber connection doesn't feel genuine and Simon himself is incredibly inconsistent as a villain. First he wants to toy with McClane, then he wants to steal the gold, oh wait now he wants to blow up the gold for some economic Goldfinger mumbo-jumbo, oh wait, he actually wants to actually steal the gold. Not only are Simon's games mostly a waste of time, but they're really hard to follow as well(Hans had a multilayered plan too, but it was still straightforward and they didn't throw in new motivations every 10 minutes). Having paid close attention to the film, they do explain why Simon does all that he does, but still, making sense of the plot felt more like doing homework rather than enjoying a well-crafted movie.
It would have seriously benefitted the film to drop all the Goldfinger shit and just go from the Simon Says stuff(which, mind you, could have used some streamlining as well) to the gold theft and then onto an exciting climax. Maybe have the boat just be their getaway and Willis gets to be the rat stuck in a maze like he was in the original film.
Good things about the movie: Willis, Jackson and Irons. Those three brought their A-game to this. Also, the alternate ending was by far the best part about the movie, they were idiots to cut that. It was the only part of the film that genuinely felt like the original. Quiet and tense and full of dark humor.

Jesus Christ you're late. We were talking about Die Hard 3 two weeks ago.
The alternate ending sucked ass. A bazooka on a table? Gaaaay. I liked the little helicopter chase, plus he used an original line like in DH 1 before killing Simon: Say hello to your brother.
Yippie-Kai-Yay, mother fucker was just a throw away line! Happy Trails should be his catch phrase!

It's long being adapted to a harem porn game by various people on the net.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 6:35 pmDune should be adapted the way it was always meant to be adapted: as a harem animu.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 4:18 amB) There's also no point in attempting it in a film format when Lynch's film already proved that film was not the best format for this material

Well, I couldn't very well talk about it then, because I hadn't seen it at that point.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 1:58 amJesus Christ you're late. We were talking about Die Hard 3 two weeks ago.

And the helicopter chase was very clearly tacked on, and a lame way for Simon go. I prefer a nice, tense conversation between the hero and villain. The original movie balanced character interactions with action very well and it's a shame they cut out the best moment in this film.
Also, Happy Trails just reminds me of Happy Beeps from Last Jedi now, so no.
