I honestly wouldn't mind a female Gladiator movie, if it was like a Red Sonja/Xena the Warrior Princess type thing, where she's a hot gladiatrix and there's tits everywhere. But unfortunately that's not the kind of movie Hollywood would make.

Gladiator was garbage. It was filled with awful CG and the action sucked. Even the music was mediocre, with the soundtrack just repeating the opening battle track again and again. And how do you make a movie about decadent Rome and Connie Nielsen DOESN'T get naked?

I won't touch on the butchery of Marcus Aurelius or Ridley's made up history bullshit. On the commentary he even defends it with "nobody was there, so I can do what I want". Well why not give them lightsabers then faggot?

Gladiator is one of the most overrated movies ever. I kind liked Joaquin Phoenix as Commodus, but that's all the positive I can say about it. Corny as hell, bad action scenes and Crowe's character sucked.

Amen. Not only was the titular Gladiator a crappy character, but they didn't even dress him up properly. I don't think a crazy method actor like Russel would've minded spending 98% of the movie entirely shirtless.

I was also offended when some grand battle between Romans and Germans was portrayed as Romans waiting in front of a forest for a bunch of almost-cavemen.

I really like Gladiator the first few viewings, when I got older I realized it has a lot of flaws and boring parts between the few epic scenes / speeches. Commodus really scared the fuck outta me though lol so insane and driven irratically by fear of not being great and fear of others. And he almost got cucked by his sister lol
