Re: Movie Thread
Her and Leo are easily the weakest parts of that film.
I'd go for Daniel Day Lewis just because he's mental so he wouldn't back down.

I bet the guy method-acted the shit out of his role.
I just see it as an interesting prequel to The Warriors.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Jul 21, 2018 7:22 pmOld fucking geezers who were forty when Taxi Driver came out didn't like it because it was too hip and edgy or something. To be fair, Cameron Diaz already looked old as shit and couldn't fucking act, so maybe that was what was dragging it down.

Cape Fear (1962)
Finally managed to watch this and finally I can update my remakes-better-than-originals list:
Cape Fear (1991)
The Thing (1982)
The Fly (1986)
"The original is always better" circle jerk around this movie is unbelievable. The only thing better here is Robert Mitchum, the guy is a legend and I partially liked more of his performance than De Niro's one. Otherwise the film is full of cheesiness of the 60's and everything is very black and white, Gregory Peck's main character is 100% good guy and Max Cady is 100% evil. And that silly ending..

SpoilerShow
If Cady preferred death over jail, why didn't he attack Sam when he was being held at gunpoint? Doesn't make sense.

Me, too. John Carpenter's The Thing is easily up there with the first Alien in terms of best horror movie period.
Also wtf, Rushy. You're sounding like one of these stereotypical capeshit/cartoon foreigners who speak perfect English, but have a stupid verbal tic where they replace one word with their native tongue version every know and then as if their brain is having a hiccup or something. I find this very stupid and unrealistisch.

Re: Movie Thread
We're talking about John Carpenter's the Thing, not the 2011 version. Carpenter's version used practical effects, had a shit ton of atmospheric tension and the characters were fairly well defined.
