You can't force someone to respect your choice of "career" any more than you can force them to pay you what you think you deserve.

This should be a warning to all those aspiring voice actors that very few people actually make a living off doing silly voices, even if they worked on some funny stuff. The guy who voiced Brak got chewed up and spit out by Cartoon Network and is now an Amazon delivery driver.

You really can't get by on voice acting alone. Historically, the first cartoon actors were also radio actors. Some of them were radio DJs. And they did live-action work if possible.
It's an extremely fickle business. A lot of the 80's voice actors I grew up with can't get work and have to do the convention circuit.

It probably also doesn't help that the average cartoon season has become shorter and shorter over the years. You can't really make ends meet with 8 episodes per year.
