It's the only antidote for the Baron's poison. Thankfully, we don't get to see it, but he is instructed to milk a cat twice a day or he dies.

So... I forgot (it's been years since i read it) but i suppose that if the Baron was poisoned in the book that the antidote was made more sense

No, Thufir was. In the book, the Baron uses it as a secret backup plan in case Thufir turns against him.
In the film, he just tells Thufir he's been poisoned and has to milk a cat.
