Bram Stoker's Dracula was the original Marble Hornets.

I think Frankenstein is the first epistolary horror novel. The main narrative is told by Victor to a sailor who writes everything down. Also, Lovecraft was a fan of this form of storytelling; many of his major stories (e.g., At the Mountains of Madness, The Whisperer in Darkness, The Shadow Out of Time, The Call of Cthulhu) are epistolary.

There are even more stories by Lovecraft written that way but for the most part it's easy to forget about it because it reads more like a character's telling of past events, like normal.
I think he liked it because he could keep the reader in the dark about whether the character would survive or not.

Started listening to audiobooks. Now I'll finally be as smart as my hero, Miscarriage of Acchild.

I haven't read a new novel in years. I can't stand generic writing. I need something unique and exciting, like Matt Stover (not the Ravens kicker) but not quite as gay.

Well you're shit out of luck. Modern writing is the gayest it's ever been.

Brick-by-Brick and Ready Player Soy are the future of books.
