I mean, it's interesting from a free will vs fate perspective, and the characters are all great, but there's no escaping the fact that nothing would have happened if Jacob just showed up once and was like "yo chill out, this Smoke Monster is evil, plz help me kill it okthxbye".

People hated that show because of wasted potential. The premise is great already (play crash survivors stranded on an island trying to survive but there's something mysterious going on on it). Initially, the Others is a very good premise. Shit gets creepy. It's one thing to find some weird stuff going on, quite another that people are spying on you because that's just not something normal people would do in that situation.

But eventually, it became clear they had no idea where to go with any of that. More and more episodes felt like filler making shit up that'll never get resolved because that's just something that writer shat out that day without forethought to keep the money train going.
It's not like The Walking Dead, which started kinda okay, very mediocre from the second or third episode and was hot garbage from then on out. LOST could've been great.

I can at least admire that they owned up to their mistakes and tried their best to explain all the built-up questions, even if the answers were somewhat(ok, VERY)silly.

The popular myth that nothing was answered and they were just dead all along isn't true.

And yes, the first two-three seasons hold up very well. Even the later ones are entertaining. Walking Dead's just a neverending slog.

Lost certainly answered the most burning question of "Are these hack writers just making shit up as they go along?"

It certainly reminds me of some especially bad piece of shounenshit that draws shit out for as long as possible, until the writer has to finally end this shit and all the hype and build-up just collapses in on itself.

Well, what were you left confused about? Apart from that one flashback of Libby in the mental asylum that nobody cares about.

From what I hear, Bleach is supposedly a bit like that.

Who remembers Heroes? I want to murder the chink in that show nine times.
